وَتَذَرُونَ
And leave
ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ
the Hereafter

Wa tazaroonal Aakhirah

And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter.

Tafsir

وُجُوهٌ
Faces
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that Day
نَّاضِرَةٌ
(will be) radiant

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naadirah

[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,

Tafsir

إِلَىٰ
Towards
رَبِّهَا
their Lord
نَاظِرَةٌ
looking

Ilaa rabbihaa naazirah

Looking at their Lord.

Tafsir

وَوُجُوهٌ
And faces
يَوْمَئِذٍۭ
that Day
بَاسِرَةٌ
(will be) distorted

Wa wujoohuny yawma 'izim baasirah

And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,

Tafsir

تَظُنُّ
Thinking
أَن
that
يُفْعَلَ
will be done
بِهَا
to them
فَاقِرَةٌ
backbreaking

Tazunnu any yuf'ala bihaa faaqirah

Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.

Tafsir

كَلَّآ
No!
إِذَا
When
بَلَغَتِ
it reaches
ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ
the collar bones

Kallaaa izaa balaghatit taraaqee

No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones

Tafsir

وَقِيلَ
And it is said
مَنْۜ
"Who
رَاقٍ
(will) cure?"

Wa qeela man raaq

And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"

Tafsir

وَظَنَّ
And he is certain
أَنَّهُ
that it
ٱلْفِرَاقُ
(is) the parting

Wa zanna annahul firaaq

And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation

Tafsir

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ
And is wound
ٱلسَّاقُ
the leg
بِٱلسَّاقِ
about the leg

Waltaffatis saaqu bissaaq

And the leg is wound about the leg,

Tafsir

إِلَىٰ
To
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that Day
ٱلْمَسَاقُ
(will be) the driving

Ilaa rabbika yawma'izinil masaaq

To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.
