Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].

I, Allah, am the best Knower,

Allah says,

الم

Alif-Lam-Mim,

in the beginning of Surah Al-Baqarah, we discussed the meaning of the separate letters that appear in the beginnings of some Surahs.

اللّهُ لا إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

(Alef), L. (Lam), M. (Meem); [The Surah opens with letters from the Arabic alphabet to draw attention to the miracle of the Quran, though written in the people's tongue, it cannot be emulated]
