Al-Waqi'ah Verse 48

And our forefathers as well?”

And our forefathers as well?”

What, and our fathers, the ancients?'

And our earliest forefathers too?’

We and our fathers of old?

"(We) and our fathers of old?"

(We) and our fore-fathers of yore?”

And so will our fathers?"

“And also our forefathers?”

And our forefathers too?!’

"And also our forefathers of old?"

`And is it that our fathers of yore (shall also be raised to a new life with us)?´

Or (are) our fathers the first/beginners?

“And also our forefathers?”

"Or our fathers of yore?"

"And also our forefathers?"

And they used to say: When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be rised?

Or our fathers of yore?

And also our forefathers?

Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too?

What, and our fathers, the ancients'

"And also our forefathers"

And also our forefathers?"

And our ancient ancestors too?”

What! And our forefathers too?' (read a-wa-b'un, [with the wa-] being for supplement, the hamza [a-] for the interrogative; here and in the previous instance, it is used to express `remoteness [of probability]'; a variant reading has aw-b'un, as a supplement with aw, and that to which this is supplemented is the [syntactical] locus of inna and its subject).

And they used to say;"When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? And also our forefathers?"

They said this while denying and rejecting the idea that resurrection will ever occur.

Allah the Exalted said,

قُلْ إِنَّ الاَْوَّلِينَ وَالاْخِرِينَ
