وَاِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوْا مَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ قَالُوْا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ اٰبَاۤءَنَاۗ اَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطٰنُ يَدْعُوْهُمْ اِلٰى عَذَابِ السَّعِيْرِ ( لقمان: ٢١ )
Wa izaa qeela lahumut-tabi'oo maaa anzalal laahu qaaloo bal nattabi'u maa wajadnaa 'alaihi aabaaa'anaa; awalaw kaanash Shaitaanu yad'oohum ilaa 'azaabis sa'eer (Luq̈mān 31:21)
English Sahih:
And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that upon which we found our fathers." Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze? (Luqman [31] : 21)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Et quand on leur dit: «Suivez ce qu'Allah a fait descendre», ils disent: «Nous suivons plutôt ce sur quoi nous avons trouvé nos ancêtres». Est-ce donc même si le Diable les appelait au châtiment de la fournaise! (Luqman [31] : 21)

Lorsqu’on dit à ces gens-là « Suivez ce qui a été révélé par Allah à Son Messager », ils répondent: Non, nous imiterons plutôt nos ancêtres qui adoraient nos divinités. Imiteront-ils leurs ancêtres même s’ils ont été invités par Satan au châtiment de la fournaise lorsqu’il les égara en leur suggérant d’adorer des idoles ?
