لَقَدْ كَانَ فِيْ قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌ لِّاُولِى الْاَلْبَابِۗ مَا كَانَ حَدِيْثًا يُّفْتَرٰى وَلٰكِنْ تَصْدِيْقَ الَّذِيْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَّهُدًى وَّرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُّؤْمِنُوْنَ ࣖ ( يوسف: ١١١ )
Laqad kaana fee qasasihim 'ibratul li ulil albaa; maa kaana hadeesany yuftaraa wa laakin tasdeeqal lazee baina yadihi wa tafseela kulli shai'inw wa hudanw wa rahmatal liqawminy yu'minoon (Yūsuf 12:111)
English Sahih:
There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was it [i.e., the Quran] a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe. (Yusuf [12] : 111)

അവരുടെ ഈ കഥകളില് ചിന്തിക്കുന്നവര്ക്ക് തീര്ച്ചയായും ഗുണപാഠമുണ്ട്. ഇവയൊന്നും കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ചുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന വര്ത്തമാനമല്ല. മറിച്ച്, അതിന്റെ മുമ്പുള്ള വേദങ്ങളെ സത്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതാണ്. എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങള്ക്കുമുള്ള വിശദീകരണവുമാണ്. ഒപ്പം വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ജനത്തിന് വഴികാട്ടിയും മഹത്തായ അനുഗ്രഹവും. (യൂസുഫ് [12] : 111)
