The Romans have been defeated

The Romans have been defeated

The Greeks have been vanquished

The Byzantines have been defeated

The Byzantians have been overcome.

The Roman Empire has been defeated-

The Romans have been defeated

The Romans have been conquered

The Romans have been defeated.

The Byzantines has been vanquished

The Byzantine Romans have been defeated,

The Byzantines have been defeated,

The Romans were defeated/conquered .

The Romans have been defeated.

Alif Lam Mim.

The Romans have been defeated.

And those who strive hard for Us, We shall certainly guide them in Our ways. And Allah is surely with the doers of good.

The Romans are vanquished,

The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians)

The Byzantines -- who are among the People of the Scripture -- have been vanquished; the Persians vanquished them, and they are not people of a scripture, but worship graven images. The Meccan disbelievers rejoiced in this [defeat of the Byzantines] and said to the Muslims, `We shall vanquish you as the Persians vanquished the Byzantines';

فِي أَدْنَى الاَْرْضِ وَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُونَ
