لَوْ اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ اَنْ يَّتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا لَّاصْطَفٰى مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاۤءُ ۙ سُبْحٰنَهٗ ۗهُوَ اللّٰهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ  ( الزمر: ٤ )

yattakhidha
يَتَّخِذَ

waladan
وَلَدًا
a son
la-iṣ'ṭafā
لَّٱصْطَفَىٰ
surely, He (could) have chosen
mimmā
مِمَّا
from what
yakhluqu
يَخْلُقُ
He creates
مَا
whatever
yashāu
يَشَآءُۚ
He willed
sub'ḥānahu
سُبْحَٰنَهُۥۖ
Glory be to Him!
huwa
هُوَ
He
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
l-wāḥidu
ٱلْوَٰحِدُ
the One
l-qahāru
ٱلْقَهَّارُ
the Irresistible

Law araadal laahu aiyattakhiza waladal lastafaa mimmaa yakhluqu maa yashaaa'; Subhaanahoo Huwal laahul Waahidul Qahhaar (az-Zumar 39:4)

Sahih International:

If Allah had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allah, the One, the Prevailing. (Az-Zumar [39] : 4)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

Had Allah opted to have a son of His own, He would have definitely chosen anyone, as He wished, out of what He had created. (But), Pure is He. He is Allah, the Only One, the All-Dominant.
