Az-Zukhruf Verse 89

So bear with them and respond with peace. They will soon come to know.

So turn away from them and say, “Peace.” They will come to know.

yet pardon them, and say, 'Peace!' Soon they will know.

but turn away from them and say, ‘Peace’: they will come to know.

Wherefore turn thou aside from them, and say: peace. presently they shall come to know.

But turn away from them, and say "Peace!" But soon shall they know!

Indulge them, (O Prophet), and say to them: “Peace to you.” For soon they shall come to know.

Turn away from them and say: "Peace." They will come to know soon.

Therefore excuse them and proclaim, “Peace”; for they will soon come to know.

So disregard them, and say, ‘Peace!’ Soon they will know.

Yet forbear and pardon them, and (when you go your way,) say, "Peace (be upon you)!" In time, they will come to know.

So (Prophet!) leave them alone and (bidding them good-bye) say, `Peace!´ They shall soon know (the truth and the folly they are committing).

So turn away/disregard from them, and say: "A greeting/safety/security/peace." So they will know

Therefore excuse them and proclaim, “Peace”; for they will soon come to know.

So turn away from them and say, "Peace", for they shall soon come to know

So turn away from them (O Muhammad SAW), and say: Salam (peace)! But they will come to know.

And his cry -- O my Lord, these are a people who believe not!

So turn away from them and say, Peace, for they shall soon come to know.

Then bear with them (O Muhammad) and say: Peace. But they will come to know.

We have told him, "Ignore them and say to them 'farewell'. They will soon know the consequences of their deeds

pardon them, and say: 'Peace', soon they will know.

So turn away from them, and say: Salam (peace!) But they will come to know.

Then bear with them [O Muhammad] and say, "Peace." They will soon come to know.

Pardon them, and say, “Peace.” They will come to know.

God, exalted be He, says; Then disregard them, leave [them] be, and say, `Peace!', [I will stay away] from you -- this was [revealed] before he was commanded to fight them. For they will [soon] come to know (ya`lamna, may also be read as [second person plural] ta`lamna, `you will [come to] know'), [meant] to threaten them. Meccan, except for verse 15; it consists of 56, 57 or 59 verses.

فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ

So turn away from them,

means, from the idolators.

وَقُلْ سَلَمٌ

and say Salam (peace!)

means, `do not respond to them in the same evil manner in which they address you; but try to soften their hearts and forgive them in word and deed.'

فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ



But they will come to know.

This is a warning from Allah for them. His punishment, which cannot be warded off, struck them, and His religion and His word was supreme. Subsequently Jihad and striving were prescribed until the people entered the religion of Allah in crowds, and Islam spread throughout the east and the west. And Allah knows best.

This is the end of the Tafsir of Surah Az-Zukhruf. All praise and thanks are due to Allah and in Him is all strength and protection.

Leave thorn alone O Muhammad and decline to recognize them but address them with the customary formula of salutation " peace " so that if they should thunder against you, they would peace at your bidding and you be out of harm's way, then they shall come to know the fatal consequence of their obsession with follies
