An-Nazi'at Verse 12

Adding, “Then such a return would be a ˹total˺ loss ˹for us˺!”

They say, “Then that would surely be a losing return!”

They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!'

‘Such a return is impossible!’

They say: that then shall be a losing return.

They say; "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!"

They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!”

They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss."

They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!”

They will say, ‘This is, then, a ruinous return!’

They say (in derision): "Then, that would be a return with loss!"

(And) who say, `Then such a resurrection shall indeed be fraught with loss.´

They said: "That is then a loosing repetition

They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!”

They said, "That then would be a return, causing loss

They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!"

It is only a single cry,

They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss.

They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding.

They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss".

They will say: 'Then we are returned lost'

They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!"

and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return."

They say, “This is a losing proposition.”

They will say, `That, return of ours to life, then, if it were true, would be a ruinous return!'.

It would in that case be a return with loss. (79;12)

Muhammad bin Ka`b said that the Quraysh said,

"If Allah brings us back to life after we die, then surely we will be losers."

Allah then says,

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ

Should this be true", they say, "it will mean immeasurable loss and condign punishment
