وَاسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُوْدُهٗ فِى الْاَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَظَنُّوْٓا اَنَّهُمْ اِلَيْنَا لَا يُرْجَعُوْنَ ( القصص: ٣٩ )
Wastakbara huwa wa junooduhoo fil ardi bighairil haqqi wa zannooo annahum ilainaa laa yurja'oon (al-Q̈aṣaṣ 28:39)
English Sahih:
And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us. (Al-Qasas [28] : 39)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Et il s'enfla d'orgueil sur terre ainsi que ses soldats, sans aucun droit. Et ils pensèrent qu'ils ne seraient pas ramenés vers Nous. (Al-Qasas [28] : 39)

L’arrogance de Pharaon et de ses soldats s’accrut et ils se comportèrent avec tyrannie en terre d’Egypte. Ils rejetèrent la réalité de la Ressuscitation et ils pensèrent qu’ils n’allaient pas retourner vers Nous le Jour de la Résurrection afin de rendre des comptes et être rétribués.
