اِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُوْرِ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِيْ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ مِنْهَآ اَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ۗذٰلِكَ الدِّيْنُ الْقَيِّمُ ەۙ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوْا فِيْهِنَّ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَقَاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ كَاۤفَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُوْنَكُمْ كَاۤفَّةً ۗوَاعْلَمُوْٓا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ ( التوبة: ٣٦ )
Inna 'iddata alshshuhoori 'inda Allahi ithna 'ashara shahran fee kitabi Allahi yawma khalaqa alssamawati waalarda minha arba'atun hurumun thalika alddeenu alqayyimu fala tathlimoo feehinna anfusakum waqatiloo almushrikeena kaffatan kama yuqatiloonakum kaffatan wai'lamoo anna Allaha ma'a almuttaqeena (at-Tawbah 9:36)

निस्संदेह महीनों की संख्या - अल्लाह के अध्यादेश में उस दिन से जब उसने आकाशों और धरती को पैदा किया - अल्लाह की दृष्टि में बारह महीने है। उनमें चार आदर के है, यही सीधा दीन (धर्म) है। अतः तुम उन (महीनों) में अपने ऊपर अत्याचार न करो। और मुशरिकों से तुम सबके सब लड़ो, जिस प्रकार वे सब मिलकर तुमसे लड़ते है। और जान लो कि अल्लाह डर रखनेवालों के साथ है
English Sahih:
Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion [i.e., way], so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him]. ([9] At-Tawbah : 36)

इसमें तो शक़ ही नहीं कि ख़ुदा ने जिस दिन आसमान व ज़मीन को पैदा किया (उसी दिन से) ख़ुदा के नज़दीक ख़ुदा की किताब (लौहे महफूज़) में महीनों की गिनती बारह महीने है उनमें से चार महीने (अदब व) हुरमत के हैं यही दीन सीधी राह है तो उन चार महीनों में तुम अपने ऊपर (कुश्त व ख़ून (मार काट) करके) ज़ुल्म न करो और मुशरेकीन जिस तरह तुम से सबके बस मिलकर लड़ते हैं तुम भी उसी तरह सबके सब मिलकर उन से लड़ों और ये जान लो कि ख़ुदा तो यक़ीनन परहेज़गारों के साथ है
