وَالْمُطَلَّقٰتُ يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِاَنْفُسِهِنَّ ثَلٰثَةَ قُرُوْۤءٍۗ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ اَنْ يَّكْتُمْنَ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ فِيْٓ اَرْحَامِهِنَّ اِنْ كُنَّ يُؤْمِنَّ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۗ وَبُعُوْلَتُهُنَّ اَحَقُّ بِرَدِّهِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ اِنْ اَرَادُوْٓا اِصْلَاحًا ۗوَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِيْ عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِۖ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌ ۗ وَاللّٰهُ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ ࣖ ( البقرة: ٢٢٨ )
Walmutallaqaatu yatarab basna bi anfusihinna salaasata qurooo'; wa laa yahillu lahunna ai yaktumna maa khalaqal laahu feee arhaaminhinna in kunna yu'minna billaahi wal yawmil aakhir; wa bu'oola tuhunna ahaqqu biraddihinna fee zaalika in araadooo islaahaa; wa lahunna mislul lazee 'araihinna bilma'roof; wa lirrijjaali 'alaihinna daraja; wallaahu 'Azeezun Hakeem (al-Baq̈arah 2:228)
English Sahih:
Divorced women remain in waiting [i.e., do not remarry] for three periods, and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have more right to take them back in this [period] if they want reconciliation. And due to them [i.e., the wives] is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men [i.e., husbands] have a degree over them [in responsibility and authority]. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. (Al-Baqarah [2] : 228)
Karakunnu/Elayavoor (കാരകുന്ന് & എളയാവൂര്):
വിവാഹമോചിതകള് മൂന്നു തവണ മാസമുറ ഉണ്ടാവുംവരെ തങ്ങളെ സ്വയം നിയന്ത്രിച്ചു കഴിയണം. അല്ലാഹു അവരുടെ ഗര്ഭാശയങ്ങളില് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചുവെച്ചതിനെ മറച്ചുവെക്കാന് അവര്ക്ക് അനുവാദമില്ല. അവര് അല്ലാഹുവിലും അന്ത്യദിനത്തിലും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരെങ്കില്! അതിനിടയില് അവരെ തിരിച്ചെടുക്കാന് ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്ക് അവകാശമുണ്ട്. അവര് ബന്ധം നന്നാക്കാന് ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില്! സ്ത്രീകള്ക്ക് ബാധ്യതകളുള്ളതുപോലെത്തന്നെ ന്യായമായ അവകാശങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് പുരുഷന്മാര്ക്ക് അവരെക്കാള് ഒരു പദവി കൂടുതലുണ്ട്. അല്ലാഹു പ്രതാപിയും യുക്തിമാനുമാകുന്നു. (അല്ബഖറ [2] : 228)

വിവാഹമോചനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട സ്ത്രീകള് തങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്തം കാര്യത്തില് മൂന്നു മാസമുറകള് (കഴിയും വരെ) കാത്തിരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. അവര് അല്ലാഹുവിലും അന്ത്യദിനത്തിലും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരാണെങ്കില് തങ്ങളുടെ ഗര്ഭാശയങ്ങളില് അല്ലാഹു സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതിനെ അവര് ഒളിച്ചു വെക്കാന് പാടുള്ളതല്ല. അതിനകം (പ്രസ്തുത അവധിക്കകം) അവരെ തിരിച്ചെടുക്കാന് അവരുടെ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര് ഏറ്റവും അര്ഹതയുള്ളവരാകുന്നു; അവര് (ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്) നിലപാട് നന്നാക്കിത്തീര്ക്കാന് ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില്. സ്ത്രീകള്ക്ക് (ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാരോട്) ബാധ്യതകള് ഉള്ളതുപോലെ തന്നെ ന്യായപ്രകാരം അവര്ക്ക് അവകാശങ്ങള് കിട്ടേണ്ടതുമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് പുരുഷന്മാര്ക്ക് അവരെക്കാള് ഉപരി ഒരു പദവിയുണ്ട്. അല്ലാഹു പ്രതാപശാലിയും യുക്തിമാനുമാകുന്നു.
