فَهَلْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَّا السَّاعَةَ اَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً ۚ فَقَدْ جَاۤءَ اَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ فَاَنّٰى لَهُمْ اِذَا جَاۤءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرٰىهُمْ ( محمد: ١٨ )
Then do
فَهَلْ
So (tun)
they wait
يَنظُرُونَ
sie erwarten sie,
but
إِلَّا
außer
(for) the Hour
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
die Stünde,
that
أَن
dass
it should come to them
تَأْتِيَهُم
sie kommt
suddenly?
بَغْتَةًۖ
plötzlich?
But indeed
فَقَدْ
So sicherlich
have come
جَآءَ
kamen
its indications
أَشْرَاطُهَاۚ
ihre Vorzeichen.
Then how
فَأَنَّىٰ
So wie
to them
لَهُمْ
(gibt es) für sie
when
إِذَا
wenn
has come to them
جَآءَتْهُمْ
sie zu ihnen kommt.
their reminder
ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ
die Ermahnung
Fahal Yanžurūna 'Illā As-Sā`ata 'An Ta'tiyahum Baghtatan Faqad Jā'a 'Ashrāţuhā Fa'annaá Lahum 'Idhā Jā'at/hum Dhikrāhum. (Muḥammad 47:18)
A. S. F. Bubenheim and N. Elyas:
Erwarten sie denn etwas anderes, als daß die Stunde plötzlich über sie kommt? So sind ihre Vorzeichen bereits eingetroffen. Wie soll ihnen dann ihre Selbstbesinnung nützen, wenn sie über sie kommt? ([47] Muhammad : 18)
English Sahih:
Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then how [i.e., what good] to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance? ([47] Muhammad : 18)
