Al-Kahf Verse 54

We have surely set forth in this Quran every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people, but humankind is the most argumentative of all beings.

We have surely diversified in this Qur’an every kind of example for people, but man is the most quarrelsome of all beings.

We have indeed turned about for men in this Koran every manner of similitude; man is the most disputatious of things.

In this Quran We have presented every kind of description for people but man is more contentious than any other creature.

And assuredly We have variously propounded in this Qur'an for mankind every kind of similitude; and man is of all things the most disputing.

We have explained in detail in this Qur'an, for the benefit of mankind, every kind of similitude; but man is, in most things, contentious.

And surely We have explained matters to people in the Qur'an in diverse ways, using all manner of parables. But man is exceedingly contentious.

We have explained in various ways all things to men in this Qur'an; but of all things man is most contentious.

And We have indeed illustrated all kinds of examples for mankind in this Qur’an; and man is the most quarrelsome of all.

We have certainly interspersed this Quran with every kind of parable for the people. But man is the most disputatious of creatures.

Assuredly We have set out in diverse ways for humankind in this Qur’an all kinds of parables and comparisons (to help them understand the truth); but human is, above all else, given to contention.

And We have explained in various ways in this Qur´ân every kind of excellent thing for the good of the people; but of all things human being is the most contentious.

And We had laid out/detailed linguistically in this the Koran to the people from every example/proverb, and the human/mankind was (the) most arguing/disputing thing.

And We have indeed illustrated all kinds of examples for mankind in this Qur’an; and man is the most quarrelsome of all.

And the guilty shall see the Fire, and shall know that they are about to fall therein, and shall find no escape there from.

And indeed We have put forth every kind of example in this Quran, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything.

And the guilty will see the Fire, and know that they are about to fall into it, and they will find no escape from it.

And certainly We have explained in this Quran every kind of example, and man is most of all given to contention.

And verily We have displayed for mankind in this Qur'an all manner of similitudes, but man is more than anything contentious.

We have given various examples in this Quran for people to learn a lesson, but the human being is the most contentious creature.

We have set forth for people in this Koran all manner of parables; the human is the most disputatious of things.

And indeed We have given every kind of example in this Qur'an for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything.

We have explained in various ways in this Quran, for the benefit of mankind, all kinds of examples, but man is most contentious.

We have elaborated in this Quran for the people every kind of example, but the human being is a most argumentative being.

And verily We have dispensed, We have explained, for mankind in this Qur'n [an example] of every kind of similitude (min kulli mathalin is an adjective qualifying an omitted clause, in other words, `[We have dispensed therein] a similitude from every kind of similitude), that they may be admonished. But man is most disputatious, [he is] most contentious in matters of falsehood (jadalan is a specification derived from [al-insn, `man'] the subject of kna) in other words, the meaning is that the disputatiousness of man is what can be found in him most.

Examples put forth in the Qur'an

Allah says,

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِي هَذَا الْقُرْانِ لِلنَّاسِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ وَكَانَ الاِْنسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلاً



And indeed We have given every kind of example in this Qur'an for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything.

Allah says, `In this Qur'an, We have explained to mankind and given clear details of matters so that they will not stray from the truth or be misled from the path of guidance. Despite this explanation, man is very quarrelsome and opposes truth with falsehood,' except for those whom Allah guides to the path of salvation.

Imam Ahmad recorded that Ali bin Abi Talib said that;

the Messenger of Allah came to visit him and Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Messenger at night, and said,

أَلَا تُصَلِّيَانِ

Are you not going to pray?

I said, "O Messenger of Allah, our souls are in the Hand of Allah. If He wills to wake us, He will wake us."

When I said that, he went away without returning.

Then I heard him as he was walking away, slapping his thigh and saying,

وَكَانَ الاِْنسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلاً

But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything."
