ٱلْحَمْدُ
All Praise
لِلَّهِ
(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓ
the One Who
أَنزَلَ
(has) revealed
عَلَىٰ
to
عَبْدِهِ
His slave
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
وَلَمْ
and not
يَجْعَل
(has) made
لَّهُۥ
in it
عِوَجَاۜ
any crookedness

Alhamdu lillaahil lazeee anzala 'alaa 'abdihil kitaaba wa lam yaj'al lahoo 'iwajaa

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant [Muhammad (r)] the Book and has not made therein any deviance.

Tafsir

قَيِّمًا
Straight
لِّيُنذِرَ
to warn
بَأْسًا
(of) a punishment
شَدِيدًا
severe
مِّن
from
لَّدُنْهُ
near Him
وَيُبَشِّرَ
and give glad tidings
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
(to) the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَعْمَلُونَ
do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
righteous deeds
أَنَّ
that
لَهُمْ
for them
أَجْرًا
(is) a good reward
حَسَنًا
(is) a good reward

Qaiyimal liyunzira baasan shadeedam mil ladunhu wa yubashshiral mu'mineenal lazeena ya'maloonas saalihaati anna lahum ajran hasanaa

[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward [i.e., Paradise].

Tafsir

مَّٰكِثِينَ
(They will) abide
فِيهِ
in it
أَبَدًا
forever

Maakiseena feehi abadaa

In which they will remain forever

Tafsir

وَيُنذِرَ
And to warn
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
قَالُوا۟
say
ٱتَّخَذَ
"Allah has taken
ٱللَّهُ
"Allah has taken
وَلَدًا
a son"

Wa yunziral lazeena qaalut takhazal laahu waladaa

And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son".

Tafsir

مَّا
Not
لَهُم
they have
بِهِۦ
about it
مِنْ
any
عِلْمٍ
knowledge
وَلَا
and not
لِءَابَآئِهِمْۚ
their forefathers
كَبُرَتْ
Mighty (is)
كَلِمَةً
the word
تَخْرُجُ
(that) comes out
مِنْ
of
أَفْوَٰهِهِمْۚ
their mouths
إِن
Not
يَقُولُونَ
they say
إِلَّا
except
كَذِبًا
a lie

Maa lahum bihee min 'ilminw wa laa li aabaaa'ihim; kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwaahihim; iny yaqooloona illaa kazibaa

They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie.

Tafsir

فَلَعَلَّكَ
Then perhaps you would (be)
بَٰخِعٌ
the one who kills
نَّفْسَكَ
yourself
عَلَىٰٓ
over
ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ
their footsteps
إِن
if
لَّمْ
not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
they believe
بِهَٰذَا
in this
ٱلْحَدِيثِ
[the] narration
أَسَفًا
(in) grief

Fala'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka 'alaaa aasaarihim illam yu;minoo bihaazal hadeesi asafaa

Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow.

Tafsir

إِنَّا
Indeed We
جَعَلْنَا
We have made
مَا
what
عَلَى
(is) on
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
زِينَةً
adornment
لَّهَا
for it
لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ
that We may test [them]
أَيُّهُمْ
which of them
أَحْسَنُ
(is) best
عَمَلًا
(in) deed

Innaa ja'alnaa ma 'alal ardi zeenatal lahaa linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu 'amalaa

Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed.

Tafsir

وَإِنَّا
And indeed We
لَجَٰعِلُونَ
(will) surely make
مَا
what
عَلَيْهَا
(is) on it
صَعِيدًا
soil
جُرُزًا
barren

Wa innaa lajaa 'iloona maa 'alaihaa sa'aeedan juruzaa

And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground.

Tafsir

أَمْ
Or
حَسِبْتَ
you think
أَنَّ
that
أَصْحَٰبَ
(the) companions
ٱلْكَهْفِ
(of) the cave
وَٱلرَّقِيمِ
and the inscription
كَانُوا۟

Our Signs

and they said
رَبَّنَآ
"Our Lord!
ءَاتِنَا
Grant us
مِن
from
لَّدُنكَ
Yourself
رَحْمَةً
Mercy
وَهَيِّئْ
and facilitate
لَنَا
for us
مِنْ
[from]
أَمْرِنَا
our affair
رَشَدًا
(in the) right way"

Iz awal fityatu ilal Kahfi faqaaloo Rabbanaaa aatinaa mil ladunka rahmatanw wa haiyi' lanaa min amrinaa rashadaa

[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance."
