فَلَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ عَلٰٓى اٰثَارِهِمْ اِنْ لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوْا بِهٰذَا الْحَدِيْثِ اَسَفًا  ( الكهف: ٦ )

falaʿallaka
فَلَعَلَّكَ
Then perhaps you would (be)
bākhiʿun
بَٰخِعٌ
the one who kills
nafsaka
نَّفْسَكَ
yourself
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
over
āthārihim
ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ
their footsteps
in
إِن
if
lam
لَّمْ
not
yu'minū
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
they believe
bihādhā
بِهَٰذَا
in this
l-ḥadīthi
ٱلْحَدِيثِ
[the] narration
asafan
أَسَفًا
(in) grief

Fala'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka 'alaaa aasaarihim illam yu;minoo bihaazal hadeesi asafaa (al-Kahf 18:6)

Sahih International:

Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow. (Al-Kahf [18] : 6)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

So, (O Prophet) perhaps you are going to kill yourself after them, out of grief, if they do not believe in this discourse.
