يٰنِسَاۤءَ النَّبِيِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَاَحَدٍ مِّنَ النِّسَاۤءِ اِنِ اتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلَا تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِيْ فِيْ قَلْبِهٖ مَرَضٌ وَّقُلْنَ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوْفًاۚ   ( الأحزاب: ٣٢ )

yānisāa
يَٰنِسَآءَ
O wives
l-nabiyi
ٱلنَّبِىِّ
(of) the Prophet!
lastunna
لَسْتُنَّ
You are not
ka-aḥadin
كَأَحَدٍ
like anyone
mina
مِّنَ
among
l-nisāi
ٱلنِّسَآءِۚ
the women
ini
إِنِ
If
ittaqaytunna
ٱتَّقَيْتُنَّ
you fear (Allah)
falā
فَلَا
then (do) not
takhḍaʿna
تَخْضَعْنَ
be soft
bil-qawli
بِٱلْقَوْلِ
in speech
fayaṭmaʿa
فَيَطْمَعَ
lest should be moved with desire
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
he who
فِى
in
qalbihi
قَلْبِهِۦ
his heart
maraḍun
مَرَضٌ
(is) a disease
waqul'na
وَقُلْنَ
but say
qawlan
قَوْلًا
a word
maʿrūfan
مَّعْرُوفًا
appropriate

Yaa nisaaa'an Nabiyyi lastunna ka ahadim minan nisaaa'i init taqaitunna falaa takhda'na bilqawli fa yatma'al lazee fee qalbihee maradunw wa qulna qawlam ma'roofaa (al-ʾAḥzāb 33:32)

Sahih International:

O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech. (Al-Ahzab [33] : 32)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

O wives of the prophet, you are not like any other women, if you observe taqwā (righteousness). So, do not be too soft in your speech, lest someone having disease in his heart should develop fancies (about you); and do speak with appropriate words.
