يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْكٰفِرِيْنَ اَوْلِيَاۤءَ مِنْ دُوْنِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ۚ اَتُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ تَجْعَلُوْا لِلّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطٰنًا مُّبِيْنًا   ( النساء: ١٤٤ )

yāayyuhā
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe[d]!
لَا
(Do) not
tattakhidhū
تَتَّخِذُوا۟
take
l-kāfirīna
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
awliyāa
أَوْلِيَآءَ
(as) allies
min
مِن
from
dūni
دُونِ
instead of
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَۚ
the believers
aturīdūna
أَتُرِيدُونَ
Do you wish
an
أَن
that
tajʿalū
تَجْعَلُوا۟
you make
lillahi
لِلَّهِ
for Allah
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
against you
sul'ṭānan
سُلْطَٰنًا
an evidence
mubīnan
مُّبِينًا
clear?

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tattakhizul kaafireena awliyaaa'a min doonil mu'mineen; aturee doona an taj'aloo lillaahi 'alaikum sultaanam mubeenaa (an-Nisāʾ 4:144)

Sahih International:

O you who have believed, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to give Allah against yourselves a clear case? (An-Nisa [4] : 144)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

O you who believe, do not take the disbelievers for friends instead of the believers. Do you want to produce before Allah a clear evidence against yourselves?
