Al-Muddaththir Verse 5

˹Continue to˺ shun idols.

and shun idol worshiping,

and defilement flee!

keep away from all filth;

And pollution shun.

And all abomination shun!

and shun uncleanness,

And banish all trepidation.

And stay away from idols.

and keep away from all impurity!

Keep away from all pollution.

And idol-worship, (spare no pains to) exterminate it and shun all uncleanliness.

And the paganism/idol worship/sin , so abandon.

And stay away from idols.

And uncleanness do shun,

And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)!

And for the sake of thy Lord, be patient.

And uncleanness do shun,

Pollution shun!

stay away from sins

and flee from the statues!

And keep away from Ar-Rujz!

shun uncleanness;

And abandon abominations.

and shun [all] defilement, [this rijz] was explained by the Prophet (s) to be the graven images; in other words, persist in shunning them.

And keep away from Ar-Rujz!

Ali bin Abi Talhah reported from Ibn `Abbas,

"Ar-Rujz are idols, so keep away from them."

Similar to this was said by Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Qatadah, Az-Zuhri and Ibn Zayd,

"Verily, it is the idols."

This is like Allah's statement,

يأَيُّهَا النَّبِىِّ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَلاأَ تُطِعِ الْكَـفِرِينَ وَالْمُنَـفِقِينَ

O Prophet!

have Taqwa of Allah, and obey not the disbelievers and the hypocrites. (33;1)

and Allah's statement,

وَقَالَ مُوسَى لاًّخِيهِ هَـرُونَ اخْلُفْنِى فِى قَوْمِى وَأَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

And Musa said to his brother Harun;

"Replace me among my people, act well and follow not way of the corrupters." (7;142)

Then Allah says,

وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ
