Al-Fajr Verse 23

and Hell is brought forth on that Day—this is when every ˹disbelieving˺ person will remember ˹their own sins˺. But what is the use of remembering then?

and Hell is brought near on that Day – this is when man will understand, but what is the use of that understanding?

and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him?

when Hell is that Day brought near- on that Day man will take heed, but what good will that be to him then?

And the Hell on that Day shall be brought nigh. On that Day man shall remember, but how will remembrance avail him?

And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?

and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be?

And Hell is brought near, that day will man remember, but of what avail will then remembering be?

And when hell is brought that day – on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think?

the day when hell is brought [near], man will take admonition on that day, but what will that admonition avail him?

And on that Day Hell is brought (forward); on that Day human will come to understand (what being favored with bounties meant and how he should have responded), but what will that understanding (then) avail him?

On that Day Gehenna shall be brought near. (It is) on that very Day that a person will remember (the admonition), but of what avail shall that remembrance be to him (at that time)?

And came (on) that day with Hell ; that day the human/mankind remembers/mentions , and from where (is) for him the remembrance/reminder?

And when hell is brought that day – on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think?

And Hell is brought near on that Day, on that Day shall man remember! But how shall the remembrance profit him?

And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him?

He will say: O would that I had sent before for (this) my life!

And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him?

And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)?

On that day, hell will be brought closer and the human being will come to his senses, but this will be of no avail to him.

and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him?

And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance avail him

and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him?

And on that Day, Hell is brought forward. On that Day, man will remember, but how will remembrance avail him?

and Hell on that day is brought [near], pulled by seventy thousand sets of reins, each set of reins [pulled] by the hands of seventy thousand angels, as it groans and seethes in fury; on that day (yawma'idhin is a substitution for idh, `when', the response to which is [the following]) man, that is to say, the disbeliever, will remember, his prodigal conduct in it, but how will remembering avail him [now]? (the interrogative is meant as a denial, in other words, his remembering that will not be of any use to him).

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَيِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ


And Hell will be brought near that Day.

In his Sahih, Imam Muslim bin Al-Hajjaj recorded that Abdullah bin Mas`ud said that the Messenger of Allah said,

يُوْتَى بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَيِذٍ لَهَا سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ زِمَامٍ مَعَ كُلِّ زِمَام سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ يَجُرُّونَهَا

Hell will be brought on near that Day and it will have seventy thousand leashes, and each leash will have seventy thousand angels pulling it.

At-Tirmidhi also recorded the same narration.

Allah said;

يَوْمَيِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الاِْنسَانُ

On that Day will man remember,

meaning, his deeds, and what he did before in his past and recent times.

وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكْرَى




but how will that remembrance avail him,

meaning, how can remembrance then benefit him

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي
