وَاِذَا بُشِّرَ اَحَدُهُمْ بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهٗ مُسْوَدًّا وَّهُوَ كَظِيْمٌ ( الزخرف: ١٧ )
Wa izaa bushshira ahaduhum bimaa daraba lir Rahmaani masalan zalla wajhuhoo muswaddanw wa hua kazeem (az-Zukhruf 43:17)
English Sahih:
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief. (Az-Zukhruf [43] : 17)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Or, quand on annonce à l'un d'eux (la naissance) d'une semblable de ce qu'il attribue au Tout Miséricordieux, son visage s'assombrit d'un chagrin profond. (Az-Zuhruf [43] : 17)

Lorsqu’on annonce à l’un d’eux un nouveau-né femelle, qu’il attribue pourtant à son Seigneur, son visage s’assombrit de chagrin et de tristesse et se sent abattu d’affliction. Comment peut-il donc attribuer à son Seigneur ce qui l’afflige lorsqu’on le lui annonce?
