اَفَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰهَهٗ هَوٰىهُ وَاَضَلَّهُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ وَّخَتَمَ عَلٰى سَمْعِهٖ وَقَلْبِهٖ وَجَعَلَ عَلٰى بَصَرِهٖ غِشٰوَةًۗ فَمَنْ يَّهْدِيْهِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ اللّٰهِ ۗ اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ ( الجاثية: ٢٣ )
Afara'ayta manit takhaza ilaahahoo hawaahu wa adal lahul laahu 'alaa 'ilminw wa khatama 'alaa sam'ihee wa qalbihee wa ja'ala 'alaa basarihee ghishaawatan famany yahdeehi mim ba'dil laah; afalaa tazakkaroon (al-Jāthiyah 45:23)
English Sahih:
Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded? (Al-Jathiyah [45] : 23)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Vois-tu celui qui prend sa passion pour sa propre divinité? Et Allah l'égare sciemment et scelle son ouïe et son cœur et étend un voile sur sa vue. Qui donc peut le guider après Allah? Ne vous rappelez-vous donc pas? (Al-Jatiya [45] : 23)

Ô Messager, vois celui qui suit ses passions et en fait une divinité à qui il ne désobéit jamais. Allah l’a sciemment égaré car il mérite d’être égaré. De plus, Il scella son cœur, le rendant incapable d’écouter de manière bénéfique pour lui-même, et voila sa vue, le rendant incapable de voir la vérité. Qui donc lui facilitera l’accès à la vérité après qu’Allah l’eut égaré? Ne vous rappellerez-vous pas les préjudices récoltés par le suivi de la passion et les bénéfices récoltés par le suivi de la religion d’Allah?
