يَحْلِفُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ مَا قَالُوْا ۗوَلَقَدْ قَالُوْا كَلِمَةَ الْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوْا بَعْدَ اِسْلَامِهِمْ وَهَمُّوْا بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوْاۚ وَمَا نَقَمُوْٓا اِلَّآ اَنْ اَغْنٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ ۚفَاِنْ يَّتُوْبُوْا يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ ۚوَاِنْ يَّتَوَلَّوْا يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللّٰهُ عَذَابًا اَلِيْمًا فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ ۚوَمَا لَهُمْ فِى الْاَرْضِ مِنْ وَّلِيٍّ وَّلَا نَصِيْرٍ ( التوبة: ٧٤ )
Yahlifoona billaahi wa qaaloo wa laqad qaaloo kalimatal kufri wa kafaroo ba'da Islaamihim wa hammoo bimaa lam yanaaloo; wa maa naqamooo illaaa an aghnaa humullaahu wa Rasooluhoo min fadlih; fainy yatooboo yaku khairal lahum wa iny yatawal law yu'az zibhumullaahu 'azaaban aleeman fiddunyaa wal Aakhirah; wamaa lahum fil ardi minw waliyyinw wa laa naseer (at-Tawbah 9:74)
English Sahih:
They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet (^)] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] IsLam and planned that which they were not to attain. And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty. So if they repent, it is better for them; but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And there will not be for them on earth any protector or helper. (At-Tawbah [9] : 74)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Ils jurent par Allah qu'ils n'ont pas dit (ce qu'ils ont proféré), alors qu'en vérité ils ont dit la parole de la mécréance et ils ont rejeté la foi après avoir été musulmans. Ils ont projeté ce qu'ils n'ont pu accomplir. Mais ils n'ont pas de reproche à faire si ce n'est qu'Allah - ainsi que Son messager - les a enrichis par Sa grâce. S'ils se repentaient, ce serait mieux pour eux. Et s'ils tournent le dos, Allah les châtiera d'un douloureux châtiment, ici-bas et dans l'au-delà; et ils n'auront sur terre ni allié ni secoureur. (At-Tawbah [9] : 74)

Les hypocrites jurent mensongèrement par Allah que ce que qui t’es parvenu de leurs paroles ne sont en aucun cas des insultes ni une atteinte à ta religion. Seulement, parmi les paroles qu’ils prononcèrent à ton encontre, certaines les rendent mécréants. Ils ont exprimé leur mécréance alors qu’auparavant ils se faisaient passer pour des musulmans. Ils fomentèrent le projet d’éliminer le Prophète et réprouvèrent ce qui n’était pas réprouvable: le partage par le Prophète des prises de guerre qu’Allah leur avait fait la faveur de percevoir malgré leur hypocrisie. S’ils se repentent à Allah de leur hypocrisie, alors leur repentir sera meilleur pour eux que leur persistance à mécroire. S’ils refusent de se repentir à Allah, Il les châtiera d’un châtiment douloureux dans ce bas monde, en faisant qu’ils meurent et qu’ils soient captifs, puis Allah leur fera subir le châtiment douloureux du Feu dans l’au-delà. Ils n’auront alors ni allié qui les sauvera du châtiment, ni secoureur qui l’éloignera d’eux.
