وَاِذْ اَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْۢ بَنِيْٓ اٰدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُوْرِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَاَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِهِمْۚ اَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْۗ قَالُوْا بَلٰىۛ شَهِدْنَا ۛاَنْ تَقُوْلُوْا يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ اِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هٰذَا غٰفِلِيْنَۙ ( الأعراف: ١٧٢ )
Waith akhatha rabbuka min banee adama min thuhoorihim thurriyyatahum waashhadahum 'ala anfusihim alastu birabbikum qaloo bala shahidna an taqooloo yawma alqiyamati inna kunna 'an hatha ghafileena (al-ʾAʿrāf 7:172)

और याद करो जब तुम्हारे रब ने आदम की सन्तान से (अर्थात उनकी पीठों से) उनकी सन्तति निकाली और उन्हें स्वयं उनके ऊपर गवाह बनाया कि 'क्या मैं तुम्हारा रब नहीं हूँ?' बोले, 'क्यों नहीं, हम गवाह है।' ऐसा इसलिए किया कि तुम क़ियामत के दिन कहीं यह न कहने लगो कि 'हमें तो इसकी ख़बर ही न थी।'
English Sahih:
And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam – from their loins – their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] – lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware." ([7] Al-A'raf : 172)

और उसे रसूल वह वक्त भी याद (दिलाओ) जब तुम्हारे परवरदिगार ने आदम की औलाद से बस्तियों से (बाहर निकाल कर) उनकी औलाद से खुद उनके मुक़ाबले में एक़रार कर लिया (पूछा) कि क्या मैं तुम्हारा परवरदिगार नहीं हूँ तो सब के सब बोले हाँ हम उसके गवाह हैं ये हमने इसलिए कहा कि ऐसा न हो कहीं तुम क़यामत के दिन बोल उठो कि हम तो उससे बिल्कुल बे ख़बर थे
