لَهٗ دَعْوَةُ الْحَقِّۗ وَالَّذِيْنَ يَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ لَا يَسْتَجِيْبُوْنَ لَهُمْ بِشَيْءٍ اِلَّا كَبَاسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ اِلَى الْمَاۤءِ لِيَبْلُغَ فَاهُ وَمَا هُوَ بِبَالِغِهٖۗ وَمَا دُعَاۤءُ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ اِلَّا فِيْ ضَلٰلٍ ( الرعد: ١٤ )
Lahoo da'watul haqq; wallazeena yad'oona min doonihee laa yastajeeboona lahum bishai'in illaa kabaasiti kaffaihi ilal maaa'i liyablugha faahu wa maa huwa bibaalighih; wa maa du'aaa'ul aafireena illaa fee dalaal (ar-Raʿd 13:14)
English Sahih:
To Him [alone] is the supplication of truth. And those they call upon besides Him do not respond to them with a thing, except as one who stretches his hands toward water [from afar, calling it] to reach his mouth, but it will not reach it [thus]. And the supplication of the disbelievers is not but in error [i.e., futility]. (Ar-Ra'd [13] : 14)

അവനോടുള്ളതുമാത്രമാണ് യഥാര്ഥ പ്രാര്ഥന. അവനെക്കൂടാതെ ഇക്കൂട്ടര് ആരോടൊക്കെ പ്രാര്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ അവര്ക്കൊന്നും ഒരുത്തരവും നല്കാനാവില്ല.വെള്ളത്തിലേക്ക് ഇരുകൈകളും നീട്ടി അത് വായിലെത്താന് കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയാണവര്. വെള്ളം അങ്ങോട്ടെത്തുകയില്ലല്ലോ. സത്യനിഷേധികളുടെ പ്രാര്ഥന പൂര്ണമായും പാഴായതുതന്നെ. (അര്റഅ്ദ് [13] : 14)

അവനോടുള്ളതുമാത്രമാണ് ന്യായമായ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന. അവന്നു പുറമെ ആരോടെല്ലാം അവര് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ച് കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ അവരാരും അവര്ക്ക് യാതൊരു ഉത്തരവും നല്കുന്നതല്ല. വെള്ളം തന്റെ വായില് (തനിയെ) വന്നെത്താന് വേണ്ടി തന്റെ ഇരുകൈകളും അതിന്റെ നേരെ നീട്ടിക്കാണിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ മാത്രമാകുന്നു അവര്. അത് (വെള്ളം) വായില് വന്നെത്തുകയില്ലല്ലോ. സത്യനിഷേധികളുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന നഷ്ടത്തില് തന്നെയാകുന്നു.
