اِذْ قَالَ لِاَبِيْهِ يٰٓاَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِيْ عَنْكَ شَيْـًٔا ( مريم: ٤٢ )

إِذْ قَالَ
When he said
അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍
li-abīhi
لِأَبِيهِ
to his father
തന്റെ പിതാവിനോടു
yāabati
يَٰٓأَبَتِ
"O my father!
എന്റെ പിതാവേ
lima taʿbudu
لِمَ تَعْبُدُ
Why (do) you worship
എന്തിനാണ് നിങ്ങള്‍ ആരാധിക്കുന്നതു, ഇബാദത്തു ചെയ്യുന്നതു
mā lā yasmaʿu
مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ
that which not hears
കേള്‍ക്കാത്തതിനെ
walā yub'ṣiru
وَلَا يُبْصِرُ
and not sees
കാണുകയുമില്ലാത്ത
walā yugh'nī
وَلَا يُغْنِى
and not benefits
ഉപകരിക്കുകയുമില്ലാത്ത
ʿanka
عَنكَ
[to] you
താങ്കള്‍ക്കു
shayan
شَيْـًٔا
(in) anything?
ഒരു കാര്യത്തിനും, ഒട്ടും തന്നെ
Iz qaala li abeehi yaaa abati lima ta'budu maa laa yasma'u wa laa yubsiru wa laa yughnee 'anka shai'aa (Maryam 19:42)
English Sahih:
[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? (Maryam [19] : 42)

അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പിതാവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞ സന്ദര്‍ഭം: ''എന്റെ പിതാവേ, കേള്‍ക്കാനോ കാണാനോ അങ്ങയ്‌ക്കെന്തെങ്കിലും ഉപകാരം ചെയ്യാനോ കഴിയാത്ത വസ്തുക്കളെ അങ്ങ് എന്തിനാണ് പൂജിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്? (മര്‍യം [19] : 42)
