Al-'Asr Verse 2

Surely humanity is in ˹grave˺ loss,

man is in utter loss,

Surely Man is in the way of loss,

man is [deep] in loss,

Verily man is in loss,

Verily Man is in loss,

Lo! Man is in a state of loss;

Man is certainly loss,

Indeed man is surely in a loss.

Man is indeed in loss,

Most certainly, human is in loss,

Verily, a person (who is unmindful of God and higher values of his life) is pursuing a losing bargain.

That truly the human/mankind (is) in (E) loss

Indeed man is surely in a loss.

Verily, man is in a state of loss

Verily! Man is in loss,

Except those who believe and do good, and exhort one another to Truth, and exhort one another to patience.

Most surely man is in loss,

Lo! man is a state of loss,

the human being is doomed to suffer loss,

Surely, the human is in a (state of) loss,

Verily, man is in loss.

that man is surely in a state of loss,

The human being is in loss.

Verily man (al-insn; the generic) is in [a state of] loss, in all his bargaining,

By Al-`Asr. , Verily, man is in loss.

Al-`Asr is the time in which the movements of the Children of Adam occur, whether good or evil.

Malik narrated from Zayd bin Aslam that he said, "It is the evening."

However, the first view is the popular opinion. Thus, Allah swears by this, that man is in
خُسْرٍ
(Khusr), which means in loss and destruction

Man suffers loss through negligence and misadventure and what his ambition is worth
