Yusuf Verse 95

They replied, “By Allah! You are definitely still in your old delusion.”

They said, “By Allah, you are still lost in your old delusion.”

They said, 'By God, thou art certainly in thy ancient error.

but [people] said, ‘By God! You are still lost in that old illusion of yours!’

They said: by Allah! verily thou art in thine old-time error.

They said; "By Allah! truly thou art in thine old wandering mind."

They said: "Surely you are still in your same old craze."

They said: "By God, you are still persisting in your old delusion."

They said, “By Allah, you are still deeply engrossed in the same old love of yours.”

They said, ‘By God, you persist in your inveterate error.’

"By God," they said, "you are indeed still lost in your old error."

They (- people of Joseph´s household) said, `By Allâh! you are (still) suffering from your old delusion.´

They said: "By God, that you are in your misguidance the old/old time."

They said, "By Allah, you are still deeply engrossed in the same old love of yours."

And when the caravan left (Egypt), their father said, "Verily, I smell the presence of Joseph; nay, think me not a dotard."

They said: "By Allah! Certainly, you are in your old error."

And when the caravan left (Egypt), their father said: Surely I scent (the power of) Joseph, if you call me not a dotard.

They said: By Allah, you are most surely in your old error.

(Those around him) said: By Allah, lo! thou art in thine old aberration.

His people said, "By God, you are still making the same old error".

'By Allah' they said, 'this is but your old illusion'

They said: "By Allah! Certainly, you are in your old Dalal (error)."

They said, "By God, you still persist in your illusions!"

They said, “By God, you are still in your old confusion.”

They said, to him; `By God, you are certainly in your misguidance, your error, of old', in your excessive adoration of him, and your [enduring] hope of encountering him [again] despite the length of time [that has passed].

قَالُواْ تَاللّهِ

They said;"By Allah!

Their answer to him was,

إِنَّكَ لَفِي ضَلَلِكَ الْقَدِيمِ



Certainly, you are in your old Dalal.

meaning, `in your old error,' according to Ibn Abbas.

Qatadah commented,

"They meant that, `because of your love for Yusuf you will never forget him.' So they uttered a harsh word to their father that they should never have uttered to him, nor to a Prophet of Allah."
