Ar-Ra'd Verse 34

For them is punishment in this worldly life, but the punishment of the Hereafter is truly far worse. And none can shield them from Allah.

They will be punished in this life, but the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe, and they will have no protector against Allah.

For them is chastisement in the present life; and the chastisement of the world to come is yet more grievous; they have none to defend them from God.

There is a punishment for them in this world, but the punishment of the Hereafter will be harder- no one will defend them against God.

For them is torment in the life of the Word, and surely the torment of the Hereafter is harder; and from Allah there is for them no protector.

For them is a penalty in the life of this world, but harder, truly, is the penalty of the Hereafter; and defender have they none against Allah.

They shall suffer chastisement in the life of the world, and surely the chastisement of the Hereafter is even more grievous. None has the power to shield them from (the chastisement of) Allah.

For them is punishment in this world; and the punishment of the world to come is far more severe. They will have no one to save them from God.

They will be punished in the life of this world, and indeed the punishment of the Hereafter is the most severe; and there is none to save them from Allah.

There is a punishment for them in the life of this world, and the punishment of the Hereafter will surely be harder, and they have no defender against Allah.

For them is punishment in the life of this world, but the punishment of the Hereafter is yet more grievous, and they have none to guard them against God.

They are doomed to punishment in the present life (and the next). But the punishment of the Hereafter will of course, be graver still. They will have no saviour at all from (the punishment of) Allâh.

For them (is) torture in the life the present/worldly life, and the end`s (other life`s) torture (E) (is) harder/more difficult , and (there is) none from (a) protector/preserver for them.

They will be punished in the life of this world, and indeed the punishment of the Hereafter is the most severe; and there is none to save them from Allah.

For them is torment in the life of this world; but surely the torment of the Hereafter is more wretched still, nor have they against Allah a defender.

For them is a torment in the life of this world, and certainly, harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And they have no protector against Allah.

Is, then, He Who watches every soul as to what it earns --? And yet they ascribe partners to Allah! Say: Name them. Would you inform Him of that which He knows not in the earth, or of an outward saying? Rather, their plan is made fair-seeming to those who disbelieve, and they are kept back from the path. And whom Allah leaves in error, he has no guide.

They shall have chastisement in this world's life, and the chastisement of the hereafter is certainly more grievous, and they shall have no protector against Allah.

For them is torment in the life of the world, and verily the doom of the Hereafter is more painful, and they have no defender from Allah.

The unbelievers will face torment in this world and their punishment in the life hereafter will be even greater. No one can save them from the wrath of God.

They shall be punished in this life but the punishment of the Everlasting Life is more grievous. None shall defend them from Allah.

For them is a torment in the life of this world, and certainly, harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And they have no defender (or protector) against Allah.

Punishment awaits them in the present life: but harsher is the punishment of the Hereafter -- no one will defend them against God.

There is for them torment in the worldly life, but the torment of the Hereafter is harsher. And they have no defender against God.

For them there is chastisement in the life of this world, through being killed or taken captive; and verily the chastisement of the Hereafter is more grievous, is more severe; and they have no defender, protector, from God, that is, from His chastisement.

Punishment of the Disbelievers and Reward of the Pious Believers

Here, Allah mentions the punishment of the disbelievers and the reward of the righteous believers, after describing the Kufr and Shirk that the disbelievers indulge in,

لَّهُمْ عَذَابٌ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا

For them is a torment in the life of this world,

by the hands of the believers, killing and capturing them,

وَلَعَذَابُ الاخِرَةِ

and certainly, the torment of the Hereafter,

which will come after they suffer humiliation in this life,

أَشَقُّ

is harder,

many times harder.

The Messenger of Allah said to those who agreed to Mula`anah,

إِنَّ عَذَابَ الدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الاْخِرَة

Surely, the torment of this life, is easier than the torment of the Hereafter.

Indeed, and just as the Messenger of Allah stated, the torment of this life ends but the torment of the Hereafter is everlasting in a Fire that is seventy times hot than our fire, where there are chains whose thickness and hardness are unimaginable.

وَمَا لَهُم مِّنَ اللّهِ مِن وَاقٍ



And they have no defender (or protector) against Allah.

Allah said in other Ayat,

فَيَوْمَيِذٍ لاَّ يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ

So on that Day none will punish as He will punish. And none will bind as He will bind. (89;25-26)

and,

بَلْ كَذَّبُواْ بِالسَّاعَةِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِالسَّاعَةِ سَعِيراً


إِذَا رَأَتْهُمْ مِّن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُواْ لَهَا تَغَيُّظاً وَزَفِيراً


وَإَذَا أُلْقُواْ مِنْهَا مَكَاناً ضَيِّقاً مُّقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْاْ هُنَالِكَ ثُبُوراً


لااَّ تَدْعُواْ الْيَوْمَ ثُبُوراً وَحِداً وَادْعُواْ ثُبُوراً كَثِيراً


قُلْ أَذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ الَّتِى وَعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيراً


And for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared a flaming Fire. When it (Hell) sees them from a far place, they will hear its raging and its roaring. And when they shall be thrown into a narrow place thereof, chained together, they will exclaim therein for destruction.

Exclaim not today for one destruction, but exclaim for many destructions.

Say;"Is that (torment) better, or the Paradise of Eternity promised for those who have Taqwa!" It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination. (25;11-15)

Similarly He said
