Al-Anbya Verse 82

And ˹We subjected˺ some jinn[[ lit., devils. ]] that dived for him,[[ The jinn dived to bring him pearls. ]] and performed other duties. It is We Who kept them in check.

And among the devils [We subjected] those who dived for him and performed other duties. It is We Who were watching over them.

and of the Satans some dived for him and did other work besides; and We were watching over them.

and We made some of the jinn subservient to him, to dive for him and do other works besides. We were watching over them.

And of the satans were some who dove for him, and worked a work beside that; and of them We were the Watchers.

And of the evil ones, were some who dived for him, and did other work besides; and it was We Who guarded them.

And We subdued many devils who dived (into the sea) for him and carried out other jobs besides that. We kept watch over all of them.

And many of the devils (We also made obedient to him) who dived for him, and did many other things; and We kept watch over them.

And among the devils, were those who dived (in water) for him and did works other than this; and We had kept them restrained.

Among the devils were some who dived for him and performed tasks other than that, and We were watchful over them.

And of the jinn and satans (devils) were some who dived for him (to extract precious stones from the sea) and did other works besides, and We were keeping watch over them (to prevent them from disobeying him).

And (We subjected to him) some of the expert deep divers who dived for him and did other (sundry) works besides that; and it was We who kept watch over them.

And from the devils who dive for him, and they make/do a work/deed other than that, and We were for them protecting/observing .

And among the devils, were those who dived (in water) for him and did works other than this; and We had kept them restrained.

And to Solomon We subjected the violent wind, to flow tamely at his bidding to the land which We have blessed - for We are aware of all things.

And of the Shayatin (devils) (from the jinns) were some who dived for him, and did other work besides that; and it was We Who guarded them.

And to Solomon (We subdued) the wind blowing violent, pursuing its course by His command to the land which We had blessed, and We are ever Knower of all things.

And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them;

And of the evil ones (subdued We unto him) some who dived (for pearls) for him and did other work, and We were warders unto them.

We subdued the devils who would dive into the sea for him and perform other tasks for Solomon. We kept them in his service.

And some of the satans dived for him and others did work as well. We were watching over them.

And of the Shayatin were some who dived for him, and did other work besides that; and it was We Who guarded them.

We also subjected to him some of the jinn who dived for him in the sea and performed other tasks; We kept a watch over them.

And of the devils were some that dived for him, and performed other, lesser tasks. But We kept them restrained.

And, We disposed, of the devils some that dived for him, plunging into the sea and bringing out of it jewels for Solomon, and performed tasks other than that, that is, other than diving, such as building and otherwise. And We were watchful over them, lest they should spoil what they had made, for whenever they completed a task before nightfall, they would [invariably] spoil it, unless they were occupied with some other [task].

وَمِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ مَن يَغُوصُونَ لَهُ


And of the Shayatin were some who dived for him,

means, they dived into the water to retrieve pearls, jewels, etc., for him.

وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلً دُونَ ذَلِكَ

and did other work besides that;

This is like the Ayah;

وَالشَّيَـطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّأءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ

وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى الاٌّصْفَادِ

And also the Shayatin, every kind of builder and diver. And also others bound in fetters. (38;37-38)

وَكُنَّا لَهُمْ حَافِظِينَ



and it was We Who guarded them.

means, Allah protected him lest any of these Shayatin did him any harm. All of them were subject to his control and domination, and none of them would have dared to approach him. He was in charge of them and if he wanted, he could set free or detain whomever among them he wished.

Allah says;

وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى الاٌّصْفَادِ

And also others bound in fetters. (38;38
