قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْۚ لَىِٕنْ لَّمْ تَنْتَهُوْا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ   ( يس: ١٨ )

They said
innā
إِنَّا

تَطَيَّرْنَا
[we] see an evil omen
bikum
بِكُمْۖ
from you
la-in
لَئِن
If

لَّمْ

tantahū
تَنتَهُوا۟
you desist
lanarjumannakum
لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ
surely we will stone you
walayamassannakum
وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم
and surely will touch you
minnā
مِّنَّا
from us
ʿadhābun
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
alīmun
أَلِيمٌ
painful"

Qaaloo innaa tataiyarnaa bikum la'il-lam tantahoo lanar jumannakum wa la-yamassan nakum minnaa 'azaabun aleem (Yāʾ Sīn 36:18)

Sahih International:

They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment." (Ya-Sin [36] : 18)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

They (the People of the Town) said, “We take you as a bad omen for us. If you do not desist, we will certainly stone you and you will be afflicted by a painful punishment from us.”
