As-Saffat Verse 153

Has He chosen daughters over sons?[[ Both sexes are equal before Allah, so the verse questions pagan chauvinism. ]]

Did He choose daughters over sons?

Has He chosen daughters above sons?

Did He truly choose daughters in preference to sons?

Hath He chosen daughters above sons?

Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?

Did He choose daughters rather than sons?

Does He prefer sons to daughters?

“Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?”

Has He preferred daughters to sons?

He has (made gender-discrimination and so) chosen daughters in preference to sons, has He?

Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?

He chose/purified the daughters on/over the sons.

“Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?”

Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?

Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons?

Allah has begotten. And truly they are liars.

Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?

(And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons.

Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?

Has He chosen daughters above sons?

Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons

Has He chosen daughters over sons?

So He preferred girls over boys?

Has He preferred daughters to sons? (read a'staf, `has He preferred', indicating an interrogative [hamza], which stands in place of the omitted conjunctive hamza).

Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons!

meaning, what would make Him choose daughters rather than sons?

This is like the Ayah,

أَفَأَصْفَـكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِالْبَنِينَ وَاتَّخَذَ مِنَ الْمَلَـيِكَةِ إِنَاثًا إِنَّكُمْ لَتَقُولُونَ قَوْلاً عَظِيمًا

Has then your Lord preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself from among the angels daughters Verily, you indeed utter an awful saying. (17;40)

Allah says;

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
