قَالُوْٓا اَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيْكُمْ رُسُلُكُمْ بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ ۗقَالُوْا بَلٰىۗ قَالُوْا فَادْعُوْا ۚوَمَا دُعٰۤؤُا الْكٰفِرِيْنَ اِلَّا فِيْ ضَلٰلٍ ࣖ  ( غافر: ٥٠ )

They (will) say

أَوَلَمْ
"Did there not
taku
تَكُ
"Did there not
tatīkum
تَأْتِيكُمْ
come to you
rusulukum
رُسُلُكُم
your Messengers
bil-bayināti
بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِۖ
with clear proofs?"
qālū
قَالُوا۟
They (will) say
balā
بَلَىٰۚ
"Yes"
qālū
قَالُوا۟
They (will) say
fa-id'ʿū
فَٱدْعُوا۟ۗ
"Then call
wamā
وَمَا
but not
duʿāu
دُعَٰٓؤُا۟
(is) the call
l-kāfirīna
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
(of) the disbelievers
illā
إِلَّا
except
فِى
in
ḍalālin
ضَلَٰلٍ
error"

Qaalooo awalam taku taateekum Rusulukum bilbaiyinaati qaaloo balaa' qaaloo fad'oo; wa maa du'aaa'ul kaafireena illaa fee dalaal (Ghāfir 40:50)

Sahih International:

They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error [i.e., futility]." (Ghafir [40] : 50)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

They will say, “Had your messengers not been coming to you with open signs?” They will say, “Of course, (they had come).” They (the keepers) will say, “Then, keep praying” - but praying of disbelievers (in the Hereafter) is only in vain.
