فَاصْبِرْ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ ۚفَاِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذِيْ نَعِدُهُمْ اَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَاِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُوْنَ ( غافر: ٧٧ )
fa-iṣ'bir
فَٱصْبِرْ
So be patient;
inna
إِنَّ
indeed
waʿda
وَعْدَ
(the) Promise
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ḥaqqun
حَقٌّۚ
(is) true
fa-immā
فَإِمَّا
And whether
nuriyannaka
نُرِيَنَّكَ
We show you
baʿḍa
بَعْضَ
some
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
(of) what
naʿiduhum
نَعِدُهُمْ
We have promised them
aw
أَوْ
or
natawaffayannaka
نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ
We cause you to die
fa-ilaynā
فَإِلَيْنَا
then to Us
yur'jaʿūna
يُرْجَعُونَ
they will be returned
Fasbir inna wa'dal laahi haqq; fa immaa nuriyannak ba'dal lazee na'i duhum aw natawaffayannaka fa ilainaa yurja'oon (Ghāfir 40:77)
Sahih International:
So be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned. (Ghafir [40] : 77)
1 Mufti Taqi Usmani
Therefore, be patient. Surely, Allah’s promise is true. Then, (O Prophet,) whether We show you (in your life) a part of the promise We are making to them, or make you die (before they are punished), in any case they have to be returned to Us.
