Al-Jathiyah Verse 28

And you will see every faith-community on its knees. Every community will be summoned to its record ˹of deeds˺. ˹They all will be told,˺ “This Day you will be rewarded for what you used to do.

You will see every community on its knees. Every community will be summoned to its book [of deeds], “Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do.

And thou shalt see every nation hobbling on their knees, every nation being summoned unto its Book: 'Today you shall be recompensed for that you were doing.

You will see every community kneeling. Every community will be summoned to its record: ‘Today you will be repaid for what you did.

And thou shalt behold each community kneeling; each community shall be summoned to its Book. Today, shall be recompensed for that which ye have been working.

And thou wilt see every sect bowing the knee; Every sect will be called to its Record; "This Day shall ye be recompensed for all that ye did!

On that Day you shall see every people fallen on their knees. Every people will be summoned to come forth and see its Record and will be told: “Today you shall be requited for your deeds.

You will see each community kneeling down; and each community will be summoned to its ledger (of good and evil deeds). You will receive upon that day your recompense for what you had done.

And you will see every group down on its knees; every group will be called towards its book of deeds; “This day you will be repaid for what you did.”

And you will see every nation fallen on its knees. Every nation will be summoned to its book: ‘Today you will be requited for what you used to do.

And you will see every community gathered together and kneeling down (in fear). Every community will be called to its record of deeds (to account for whatever it did in the world). "This Day you will be recompensed for what you used to do.

And (at that promised time) you shall see every community fallen on (their) knees. Every community will be summoned to (face) their records (of deeds). (And it shall be said to them,) `This day you shall be recompensed according to your deeds.

And you see every/each nation kneeling/sitting on (its) knees , every/each nation is being called to its Book , (and told): "The day/today you are being reimbursed (for) what you were making/doing ."

And you will see every group down on its knees; every group will be called towards its book of deeds; “This day you will be repaid for what you did.”

And you shall see every people (sect, community or nation) kneeling down; every nation shall be called to its Book (or Record, or will be judged by its scripture): this day shall you be requited for what you did.

And you will see each nation humbled to their knees (kneeling), each nation will be called to its Record (of deeds). This Day you shall be recompensed for what you used to do.

And Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And on the day when the Hour comes to pass, on that day will the followers of falsehood perish.

And you shall see every nation kneeling down; every nation shall be called to its book: today you shall be rewarded for what you did.

And thou wilt see each nation crouching, each nation summoned to its record. (And it will be said unto them): This day ye are requited what ye used to do.

You will see all the people kneeling down. Everyone will be summoned to the Book (containing the record of their deeds). They will be told, "On this day you will be recompensed for what you have done".

You shall see every nation hobbling on their knees. Each nation shall be summoned to its Book. (And it will be said:) 'This Day, you shall be recompensedfor what you were doing.

And you will see each nation humbled to their knees (Jathiyah), each nation will be called to its Record (of deeds). This Day you shall be recompensed for what you used to do.

You will see every people on their knees, every people shall be summoned to its Record [and a voice will say], "Today you will be requited for your deeds.

You will see every community on its knees; every community will be called to its Book: “Today you are being repaid for what you used to do.

And you will see every community, that is, [all] members of a religion, crouching, on their knees -- or [jthiya means] `gathered together'. Every community will be summoned to its record, the record of its deeds and it will be said to them; `Today you will be requited for what you used to do, that is, [you will be given] the desert thereof.

وَتَرَى كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً

And you will see each nation humbled to their knees (Jathiyah),

kneeling, fearful of the tremendous calamity and events.

It was said that this will occur when Hellfire will be brought forth, for she will exhale once, and everyone will fall to their knees, including Ibrahim, the Khalil. He will proclaim, "Myself, myself, myself! Today, I will not ask You (O Allah) but about myself."

And even `Isa, will proclaim, "Today, I will only argue before You on my own behalf, I will not ask You about Maryam, who gave birth to me."

Allah said next,

كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَى إِلَى كِتَابِهَا

each nation will be called to its Record.

meaning, Record of deeds.

Allah said in a similar Ayah,

وَوُضِعَ الْكِتَـبُ وَجِـىءَ بِالنَّبِيِّيْنَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ

And the Book will be presented; and the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward, (39;69)

This is why Allah said here,

الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ



This Day you shall be recompensed for what you used to do.

`you will be judged according to your deeds, good and evil.'

Allah said in similar Ayat;

يُنَبَّأُ الاِنسَـنُ يَوْمَيِذِ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ

بَلِ الاِنسَـنُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ

وَلَوْ أَلْقَى مَعَاذِيرَهُ

On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward, and what he left behind. Nay! Man will be a witness against himself, though he may put forth his excuses. (75;13-15)

Allah said
