طَاعَةٌ وَّقَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوْفٌۗ فَاِذَا عَزَمَ الْاَمْرُۗ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا اللّٰهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْۚ  ( محمد: ٢١ )

ṭāʿatun
طَاعَةٌ
(Is) obedience
waqawlun
وَقَوْلٌ
and a word
maʿrūfun
مَّعْرُوفٌۚ
kind
fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
And when
ʿazama
عَزَمَ
(is) determined
l-amru
ٱلْأَمْرُ
the matter
falaw
فَلَوْ
then if
ṣadaqū
صَدَقُوا۟
they had been true
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
(to) Allah
lakāna
لَكَانَ
surely it would have been
khayran
خَيْرًا
better
lahum
لَّهُمْ
for them

Taa'atunw wa qawlum ma'roof; fa izaa 'azamal amru falaw sadaqul laaha lakaana khairal lahum (Muḥammad 47:21)

Sahih International:

Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them. (Muhammad [47] : 21)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

The (reality of their) obedience and (truthfulness of their) speech is fully known (as being mere deception). So, had they been truthful to Allah when the matter had become serious, it would have been much better for them.
