اَفَلَا يَتُوْبُوْنَ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَهٗۗ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ  ( المائدة: ٧٤ )

So will not

يَتُوبُونَ
they repent
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
wayastaghfirūnahu
وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُۥۚ
and seek His forgiveness?
wal-lahu
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
ghafūrun
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
raḥīmun
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful

Afalaa yatooboona ilal laahi wa yastaghfiroonah; wallaahu Ghafoorur Raheem (al-Māʾidah 5:74)

Sahih International:

So will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Al-Ma'idah [5] : 74)

Why then do they not turn to Allah in repentance and seek His forgiveness, while Allah is most forgiving, very merciful?
