Al-Inshiqaq Verse 6

O humanity! Indeed, you are labouring restlessly towards your Lord, and will ˹eventually˺ meet the consequences.

O humans, you are toiling towards your Lord, and you will surely meet Him.

O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him.

you humans, toiling laboriously towards your Lord, will meet Him:

O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him.

O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him.

O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him.

O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him.

O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him.

O man! You are labouring toward your Lord laboriously, and you will encounter Him.

O human! You are ever toiling toward your Lord in a labor to be re-encountered (before His judgment).

O Mankind! verily you are (by nature) toiling on towards your Lord a laborious toiling, then (through arduous service to Him) you shall surely meet Him.

You, you the human/mankind, that you truly are exerting/labouring/toiling to your Lord exertion/labour/toil, so you (are) receiving/meeting Him .

O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him.

O man! Verily, you are toiling on towards your Lord, painfully toiling; wherefore shall you meet Him!

O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).

Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand,

O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.

Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).

Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds).

O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him.

O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions, a sure returning, and you will meet.

O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him:

O man! You are laboring towards your Lord, and you will meet Him.

O man! Verily you are labouring, exerting your efforts, toward, the encounter with, your Lord, that is, death, laboriously, and you will encounter it, that is, you will encounter your mentioned good or evil deeds on the Day of Resurrection.

يَا أَيُّهَا الاْاِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا


O man!

Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions, a sure returning,

meaning, `verily you are hastening to your Lord and working deeds.'

فَمُلَقِيه

ِ


and you will meet.

`Then you will meet that which you did of good or evil.'

A proof for this is what Abu Dawud At-Tayalisi recorded from Jabir, that the Messenger of Allah said,

قَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ

عِشْ مَا شِيْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ

وَأَحْبِبْ مَنْ شِيْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مُفَارِقُهُ

وَاعْمَلْ مَا شِيْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مُلَاقِيه

Jibril said, "O Muhammad!

- Live how you wish, for verily you will die;

- love what you wish, for verily you will part with it;

- and do what you wish, for verily you will meet it (your deed).

There are some people who refer the pronoun back to the statement "your Lord."

Thus, they hold the Ayah to mean, "and you will meet your Lord."

This means that He will reward you for your work, and pay you for your efforts. Therefore, both of these two views are connected.

Al-`Awfi recorded from Ibn Abbas that he said explaining,
يأَيُّهَا الاأِنسَـنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَدْحاً
(O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions, a sure returning),

"Whatever deed you do, you will meet Allah with it, whether it is good or bad."

Then Allah says,

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ
