فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ اَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوْا يٰصٰلِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ اِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ ( الأعراف: ٧٧ )
Fa'aqarun naaqata wa'ataw 'an amri Rabbihim wa qaaloo yaa Saalihu' tinaa bimaa ta'idunaaa in kunta minal mursaleen (al-ʾAʿrāf 7:77)
English Sahih:
So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Saleh, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." (Al-A'raf [7] : 77)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Ils tuèrent la chamelle, désobéirent au commandement de leur Seigneur et dirent: «O Sâlih, fais nous venir ce dont tu nous menaces, si tu es du nombre des Envoyés». (Al-A'raf [7] : 77)

Faisant fi de l’ordre d’Allah, ils immolèrent la chamelle qu'il leur avait été défendu de toucher, et dirent en raillant ce dont les menaça Şâliħ et en en excluant la possibilité: Ô Şâliħ, où est le châtiment qui nous était promis si tu es véritablement un messager d’Allah?
