لَوْلَآ اِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوْهُ ظَنَّ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتُ بِاَنْفُسِهِمْ خَيْرًاۙ وَّقَالُوْا هٰذَآ اِفْكٌ مُّبِيْنٌ ( النور: ١٢ )
Why not
لَّوْلَآ
क्यों ना
when
إِذْ
जब
you heard it
سَمِعْتُمُوهُ
सुना तुमने उसे
think
ظَنَّ
गुमान किया
the believing men
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
मोमिन मर्दों ने
and the believing women
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ
और मोमिन औरतों ने
good of themselves
بِأَنفُسِهِمْ
अपने बारे में
good of themselves
خَيْرًا
अच्छा
and say
وَقَالُوا۟
और कहा उन्होंने
"This
هَٰذَآ
ये है
(is) a lie
إِفْكٌ
बोहतान
clear?"
مُّبِينٌ
खुला
Lawla ith sami'tumoohu thanna almuminoona waalmuminatu bianfusihim khayran waqaloo hatha ifkun mubeenun (an-Nūr 24:12)

ऐसा क्यों न हुआ कि जब तुम लोगों ने उसे सुना था, तब मोमिन पुरुष और मोमिन स्त्रियाँ अपने आपसे अच्छा गुमान करते और कहते कि 'यह तो खुली तोहमत है?'
English Sahih:
Why, when you heard it, did not the believing men and believing women think good of themselves [i.e., one another] and say, "This is an obvious falsehood"? ([24] An-Nur : 12)
