وَكَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ ۢ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيْشَتَهَا ۚفَتِلْكَ مَسٰكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَنْ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًاۗ وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ الْوَارِثِيْنَ ( القصص: ٥٨ )
And how many
وَكَمْ
और कितनी ही
We have destroyed
أَهْلَكْنَا
हलाक कीं हमने
of
مِن
बस्तियाँ
a town
قَرْيَةٍۭ
बस्तियाँ
which exulted
بَطِرَتْ
जो इतराती थीं
(in) its means of livelihood
مَعِيشَتَهَاۖ
अपनी मईशत पर
And these
فَتِلْكَ
तो ये
(are) their dwellings
مَسَٰكِنُهُمْ
घर हैं उनके
not
لَمْ
नहीं
have been inhabited
تُسْكَن
वो बसाय गए
after them
مِّنۢ
बाद उनके
after them
بَعْدِهِمْ
बाद उनके
except
إِلَّا
मगर
a little
قَلِيلًاۖ
बहुत थोड़े
And indeed, [We]
وَكُنَّا
और हैं हम
We
نَحْنُ
हम ही
(are) the inheritors
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
वारिस
Wakam ahlakna min qaryatin batirat ma'eeshataha fatilka masakinuhum lam tuskan min ba'dihim illa qaleelan wakunna nahnu alwaritheena (al-Q̈aṣaṣ 28:58)

हमने कितनी ही बस्तियों को विनष्ट कर डाला, जिन्होंने अपनी गुज़र-बसर के संसाधन पर इतराते हुए अकृतज्ञता दिखाई। तो वे है उनके घर, जो उनके बाद आबाद थोड़े ही हुए। अन्ततः हम ही वारिस हुए
English Sahih:
And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors. ([28] Al-Qasas : 58)
