۞ اَوَلَمْ يَسِيْرُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوْا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِيْنَ كَانُوْا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۗ كَانُوْا هُمْ اَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَّاٰثَارًا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَاَخَذَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِذُنُوْبِهِمْ ۗوَمَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ وَّاقٍ ( غافر: ٢١ )
Awa lam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana 'aqibatu allatheena kanoo min qablihim kanoo hum ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharan fee alardi faakhathahumu Allahu bithunoobihim wama kana lahum mina Allahi min waqin (Ghāfir 40:21)

क्या वे धरती में चले-फिरे नहीं कि देखते कि उन लोगों का कैसा परिणाम हुआ, जो उनसे पहले गुज़र चुके है? वे शक्ति और धरती में अपने चिन्हों की दृष्टि से उनसे कहीं बढ़-चढ़कर थे, फिर उनके गुनाहों के कारण अल्लाह ने उन्हें पकड़ लिया। और अल्लाह से उन्हें बचानेवाला कोई न हुआ
English Sahih:
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector. ([40] Ghafir : 21)

क्या उन लोगों ने रूए ज़मीन पर चल फिर कर नहीं देखा कि जो लोग उनसे पहले थे उनका अन्जाम क्या हुआ (हालाँकि) वह लोग कुवत (शान और उम्र सब) में और ज़मीन पर अपनी निशानियाँ (यादगारें इमारतें) वग़ैरह छोड़ जाने में भी उनसे कहीं बढ़ चढ़ के थे तो ख़ुदा ने उनके गुनाहों की वजह से उनकी ले दे की, और ख़ुदा (के ग़ज़ब से) उनका कोई बचाने वाला भी न था
