Never did We destroy a town, but there was a known decree for it

وَمَاۤ اَهۡلَـكۡنَا مِنۡ قَرۡيَةٍ اِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعۡلُوۡمٌ‏(الحجر :4)

وَمَآ

And not

أَهْلَكْنَا

We destroyed

مِن

any

قَرْيَةٍ

town

إِلَّا

but

وَلَهَا

(there was) for it

كِتَابٌ

a decree

مَّعْلُومٌ

known

Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa walaha kitabun ma'loomun

And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.
