اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الْمَلَاِ مِنْۢ بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مُوْسٰىۘ اِذْ قَالُوْا لِنَبِيٍّ لَّهُمُ ابْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكًا نُّقَاتِلْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ اِنْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ اَلَّا تُقَاتِلُوْا ۗ قَالُوْا وَمَا لَنَآ اَلَّا نُقَاتِلَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ وَقَدْاُخْرِجْنَا مِنْ دِيَارِنَا وَاَبْنَاۤىِٕنَا ۗ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْا اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا مِّنْهُمْ ۗوَاللّٰهُ عَلِيْمٌ ۢبِالظّٰلِمِيْنَ ( البقرة: ٢٤٦ )
Alam tara ilal malai mim Baneee Israaa'eela mim ba'di Moosaaa iz qaaloo li Nabiyyil lahumub 'as lanaa malikan nuqaatil fee sabeelillaahi qaala hal 'asaitum in kutiba 'alaikumul qitaalu allaa tuqaatiloo qaaloo wa maa lanaaa allaa nuqaatila fee sabeelil laahi wa qad ukhrijnaa min diyaarinaa wa abnaaa'inaa falammaa kutiba 'alaihimul qitaalu tawallaw illaa qaleelam minhum; wallaahu 'aleemum bizzaalimeen (al-Baq̈arah 2:246)
English Sahih:
Have you not considered the assembly of the Children of Israel after [the time of] Moses when they said to a prophet of theirs, "Send to us a king, and we will fight in the way of Allah"? He said, "Would you perhaps refrain from fighting if battle was prescribed for you?" They said, "And why should we not fight in the cause of Allah when we have been driven out from our homes and from our children?" But when battle was prescribed for them, they turned away, except for a few of them. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers. (Al-Baqarah [2] : 246)
Karakunnu/Elayavoor (കാരകുന്ന് & എളയാവൂര്):
നീ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടോ? മൂസാക്കുശേഷമുള്ള ഇസ്രയേലി പ്രമാണിമാരുടെ കാര്യം? അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാചകനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: 'ഞങ്ങള്ക്കൊരു രാജാവിനെ നിശ്ചയിച്ചുതരിക. ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവമാര്ഗത്തില് പടപൊരുതാം.' പ്രവാചകന് ചോദിച്ചു: 'യുദ്ധത്തിന് കല്പന കിട്ടിയാല് പിന്നെ, നിങ്ങള് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നേക്കുമോ?' അവര് പറഞ്ഞു: 'ദൈവമാര്ഗത്തില് ഞങ്ങളെങ്ങനെ പൊരുതാതിരിക്കും? ഞങ്ങളെ സ്വന്തം വീടുകളില് നിന്നും മക്കളില്നിന്നും ആട്ടിപ്പുറത്താക്കിയിരിക്കെ?' എന്നാല് യുദ്ധത്തിന് കല്പന കൊടുത്തപ്പോള് അവര് പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു; ചുരുക്കം ചിലരൊഴികെ. അല്ലാഹു അക്രമികളെപ്പറ്റി നന്നായറിയുന്നവനാണ്. (അല്ബഖറ [2] : 246)
1 Abdul Hameed/Parappoor (അബ്ദുല് ഹമീദ് & പറപ്പൂര്)
മൂസായുടെ ശേഷം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ചില ഇസ്രായീലീ പ്രമുഖര് തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാചകനോട്,[1] ഞങ്ങള്ക്കൊരു രാജാവിനെ നിയോഗിച്ച് തരൂ. (അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്) ഞങ്ങള് അല്ലാഹുവിൻ്റെ മാര്ഗത്തില് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ സന്ദര്ഭം നീ അറിഞ്ഞില്ലേ? അദ്ദേഹം (പ്രവാചകന്) ചോദിച്ചു: നിങ്ങള്ക്ക് യുദ്ധത്തിന്ന് കല്പന കിട്ടിയാല് നിങ്ങള് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നേക്കുമോ ? അവര് പറഞ്ഞു: ഞങ്ങളുടെ താമസസ്ഥലങ്ങളില് നിന്നും സന്തതികള്ക്കിടയില് നിന്നും ഞങ്ങള് പുറംതള്ളപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥിതിക്ക് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കെങ്ങനെ അല്ലാഹുവിൻ്റെ മാര്ഗത്തില് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കാന് കഴിയും? എന്നാല് അവര്ക്ക് യുദ്ധത്തിന് കല്പന നല്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോഴാകട്ടെ അല്പം പേരൊഴിച്ച് (എല്ലാവരും) പിന്മാറുകയാണുണ്ടായത്. അല്ലാഹു അക്രമകാരികളെപ്പറ്റി (നല്ലവണ്ണം) അറിയുന്നവനാകുന്നു.
