وَلَوْ اَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ اَنِ اقْتُلُوْٓا اَنْفُسَكُمْ اَوِ اخْرُجُوْا مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ مَّا فَعَلُوْهُ اِلَّا قَلِيْلٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۗوَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوْا مَا يُوْعَظُوْنَ بِهٖ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَاَشَدَّ تَثْبِيْتًاۙ ( النساء: ٦٦ )
Wa law annaa katabnaa 'alaihim aniq tulooo anfusakum awikh rujoo min diyaarikum maa fa'aloohu illaa qaleelum minhum wa law annahum fa'aloo maa yoo'azoona bihee lakaana khairal lahum wa ashadda tasbeetaa (an-Nisāʾ 4:66)
English Sahih:
And if We had decreed upon them, "Kill yourselves" or "Leave your homes," they would not have done it, except for a few of them. But if they had done what they were instructed, it would have been better for them and a firmer position [for them in faith]. (An-Nisa [4] : 66)

ദൈവമാര്ഗത്തില് ജീവന് അര്പ്പിക്കണമെന്നോ വീട് വിട്ടുപോകണമെന്നോ നാം ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവരില് ചുരുക്കം ചിലരൊഴികെ ആരും അത് നടപ്പാക്കുമായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാല് ഉപദേശിച്ചതനുസരിച്ച് പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് അതവര്ക്ക് ഏറെ ഗുണകരമായേനെ. കൂടുതല് സ്ഥൈര്യം നല്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു. (അന്നിസാഅ് [4] : 66)

നിങ്ങള് സ്വന്തം ജീവന് ബലിയര്പ്പിക്കണമെന്നോ, വീട് വിട്ടിറങ്ങണമെന്നോ നാം അവര്ക്ക് കല്പന നല്കിയിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവരില് ചുരുക്കം പേരൊഴികെ അത് ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നില്ല. അവരോട് ഉപദേശിക്കപ്പെടും പ്രകാരം അവര് പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് അതവര്ക്ക് ഏറ്റവും ഉത്തമവും (സന്മാര്ഗത്തില്) അവരെ കൂടുതല് ശക്തമായി ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നതും ആകുമായിരുന്നു.
