وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ اَقَامُوا التَّوْرٰىةَ وَالْاِنْجِيْلَ وَمَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْهِمْ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ لَاَكَلُوْا مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ اَرْجُلِهِمْۗ مِنْهُمْ اُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ ۗ وَكَثِيْرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَاۤءَ مَا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ࣖ ( المائدة: ٦٦ )
Wa law annahum aqaamut Tawraata wal Injeela wa maaa unzila ilaihim mir Rabbihim la akaloo min fawqihim wa min tahti arjulihim; minhum ummatum muqta sidatunw wa kaseerum minhum saaa'a maa ya'maloon (al-Māʾidah 5:66)
English Sahih:
And if only they had upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord [i.e., the Quran], they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them are a moderate [i.e., acceptable] community, but many of them – evil is that which they do. (Al-Ma'idah [5] : 66)

തൗറാത്തും ഇഞ്ചീലും, തങ്ങളുടെ നാഥനില്‍ നിന്ന് ഇറക്കിക്കിട്ടിയ മറ്റു സന്ദേശങ്ങളും യഥാവിധി പ്രയോഗത്തില്‍ വരുത്തിയിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് മുകള്‍ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും കാല്‍ച്ചുവട്ടില്‍നിന്നും ആഹാരം കിട്ടുമായിരുന്നു. അവരില്‍ നേര്‍വഴി കൈക്കൊണ്ട ചിലരുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ ഏറെ പേരുടെയും ചെയ്തികള്‍ തീര്‍ത്തും നീചമാണ്. (അല്‍മാഇദ [5] : 66)

തൗറാത്തും, ഇന്‍ജീലും, അവര്‍ക്ക് അവരുടെ രക്ഷിതാവിങ്കല്‍ നിന്ന് അവതരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട സന്ദേശങ്ങളും അവര്‍ നേരാംവണ്ണം നിലനിര്‍ത്തിയിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ മുകള്‍ഭാഗത്ത് നിന്നും, കാലുകള്‍ക്ക് ചുവട്ടില്‍ നിന്നും അവര്‍ക്ക് ആഹാരം ലഭിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. അവരില്‍ തന്നെ മിതത്വം പാലിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സമൂഹമുണ്ട്‌. എന്നാല്‍ അവരില്‍ അധികം പേരുടെയും പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ വളരെ ചീത്ത തന്നെ.
