وَاِنِّيْ كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوْٓا اَصَابِعَهُمْ فِيْٓ اٰذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَاَصَرُّوْا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًاۚ ( نوح: ٧ )
Wa inee kullamaa da'awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja'alooo asaabi'ahum fee aazaanihim wastaghshaw siyaabahum wa asaarroo wastakbarus tikbaaraa (Nūḥ 71:7)
English Sahih:
And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. (Nuh [71] : 7)
Karakunnu/Elayavoor (കാരകുന്ന് & എളയാവൂര്):
''നീ അവര്ക്ക് മാപ്പേകാനായി ഞാന് അവരെ വിളിച്ചപ്പോഴൊക്കെയും അവര് കാതില് വിരല് തിരുകുകയും വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ട് മൂടുകയുമായിരുന്നു. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യത്തിലുറച്ചുനിന്നു. അങ്ങേയറ്റം അഹങ്കരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. (നൂഹ് [71] : 7)

തീര്ച്ചയായും, നീ അവര്ക്ക് പൊറുത്തുകൊടുക്കുവാന് വേണ്ടി ഞാന് അവരെ വിളിച്ചപ്പോഴൊക്കെയും അവര് അവരുടെ വിരലുകള് കാതുകളില് വെക്കുകയും, അവരുടെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങള് മൂടിപ്പുതക്കുകയും, അവര് ശഠിച്ചു നില്ക്കുകയും, കടുത്ത അഹങ്കാരം നടിക്കുകയുമാണ് ചെയ്തത്.
