Al-Furqan Verse 44

Or do you think that most of them listen or understand?[[ They neither pay attention, nor think for themselves. They only follow others blindly. ]] They are only like cattle—no, more than that, they are astray from the ˹Right˺ Way![[ Generally, animals are obedient and loyal to their masters who care for them and they seem to know their way, whereas Meccan pagans are disobedient and ungrateful to their Lord and Sustainer, choosing to stray from the right path. ]] 

Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are just like livestock, rather they are further astray from the right way.

Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle; nay, they are further astray from the way.

Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are just like cattle- no, they are further from the path.

Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but like unto the cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the path.

Or thinkest thou that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle;- nay, they are worse astray in Path.

Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like the cattle; nay, even worse than the cattle.

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are no better than cattle; in fact they are farther astray from the path.

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand something? They are not but like the cattle – in fact more astray from the path than them!

Do you suppose that most of them listen or exercise their reason? They are just like cattle; indeed, they are further astray from the way.

Or do you think that most of them (really) hear or reason and understand? They are but like cattle, (following only their instincts). No, they are more heedless of the right way (and therefore in greater need of being led than cattle).

Do you think that most of these (opponents) can hear and understand (what you say)? They are only like cattle, rather they are even worse in their ways and behaviour.

Or you think/suppose that most of them hear/listen or reason/comprehend , that they are except as the camels/livestock, but they are more misguided (in) a way/path .

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand something? They are not but like the cattle – in fact more astray from the path than them!

Have you considered him who takes for his god his own lusts (prejudices, fantasies, superstitions)? Would you then be guardian over him?

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).

Hast thou seen him who takes his low desires for his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over him?

Or do you think that most of them do hear or understand? They are nothing but as cattle; nay, they are straying farther off from the path.

Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle - nay, but they are farther astray?

Do you think that most of them listen and understand? They are like cattle or even more, straying and confused.

Do you think that most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle, no, they are further astray from the Path.

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand They are only like cattle -- nay, they are even farther astray from the path.

Do you think most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle. Indeed, they are even more astray.

Or do you assume that most of them hear or understand? They are just like cattle, but even more errant in their way.

Or do you suppose that most of them listen, listening so as to understand, or comprehend?, what you say to them? They are but as the cattle -- nay, but they are further astray from the way, further from these [cattle] upon the path of misguidance, for at least they [cattle] yield to the person who looks after them, whereas these [disbelievers] do not obey their Master, Who is gracious to them.

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand!

إِنْ هُمْ إِلاَّ كَالاَْنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلً



They are only like cattle -- nay, they are even farther astray from the path.

meaning, they are worse than grazing cattle. Cattle only do what they were created to do, but these people were created to worship Allah Alone without associating partners with Him, but they worship others with Him, even though evidence has been established against them and Messengers have been sent to them
