قَالَ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُوْنُ لِيْ غُلٰمٌ وَّقَدْ بَلَغَنِيَ الْكِبَرُ وَامْرَاَتِيْ عَاقِرٌ ۗ قَالَ كَذٰلِكَ اللّٰهُ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاۤءُ  ( آل عمران: ٤٠ )

قَالَ
He said
rabbi
رَبِّ
"My Lord
annā
أَنَّىٰ
how
yakūnu
يَكُونُ
can (there) be
لِى
for me
ghulāmun
غُلَٰمٌ
a son
waqad
وَقَدْ
and verily
balaghaniya
بَلَغَنِىَ
has reached me
l-kibaru
ٱلْكِبَرُ
[the] old age
wa-im'ra-atī
وَٱمْرَأَتِى
and my wife
ʿāqirun
عَاقِرٌۖ
(is) [a] barren?"
qāla
قَالَ
He said
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
"Thus;
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
yafʿalu
يَفْعَلُ
does
مَا
what
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills"

Qaala Rabbi annaa yakoonu lee ghulaamunw wa qad balaghaniyal kibaru wamraatee 'aaqirun qaala kazaalikal laahu yaf'alu maa yashaaa' (ʾĀl ʿImrān 3:40)

Sahih International:

He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when I have reached old age and my wife is barren?" He [the angel] said, "Such is Allah; He does what He wills." (Ali 'Imran [3] : 40)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

He said: “O my Lord, how shall I have a boy when old age has come upon me and my wife is barren?” Said He: “That is how Allah does what He wills.”
