Ar-Rum Verse 30

So be steadfast in faith in all uprightness ˹O Prophet˺—the natural Way of Allah which He has instilled in ˹all˺ people. Let there be no change in this creation of Allah. That is the Straight Way, but most people do not know.

Adhere sincerely to the true religion in all uprightness. This is the natural disposition with which Allah has created mankind. There is no change in Allah’s creation. This is the straight religion, but most people do not know.

So set thy face to the religion, a man of pure faith -- God's original upon which He originated mankind. There is no changing God's creation. That is the right religion; but most men know it not --

So [Prophet] as a man of pure faith, stand firm and true in your devotion to the religion. This is the natural disposition God instilled in mankind- there is no altering God’s creation- and this is the right religion, though most people do not realize it.

Wherefore set thou thy face towards the true religion uprightly. And follow thou the constitution of Allah according to which He hath constituted mankind. No altering let there be in Allah's creation. That is the right religion, but most men know not.

So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith; (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind; no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah; that is the standard Religion; but most among mankind understand not.

(O Prophet and his followers), turn your face singlemindedly to the true Faith and adhere to the true nature on which Allah has created human beings. The mould fashioned by Allah cannot be altered. That is the True, Straight Faith, although most people do not know.

So keep yourself exclusively on the true way, the creational law of God according to which He created man with the quality of choosing right or wrong. There is no altering of God's creation. This is the supreme law. But most men do not understand.

Therefore set your attention for obeying Allah, devoted solely to Him; the foundation set by Allah, upon which He created man; do not change what Allah has created; this is the proper religion – but most people do not know.

So set your heart as a person of pure faith on this religion, the original nature endowed by Allah according to which He originated mankind (There is no altering Allah’s creation; that is the upright religion, but most people do not know.)

So set your whole being upon the Religion (of Islam) as one of pure faith (free from unbelief, polytheism, and hypocrisy). This is the original pattern belonging to God on which He has originated humankind. No change can there be in God’s creation. This is the upright, ever-true Religion, but most of the people do not know.

So pay your whole-hearted attention to (the cause of) faith as one devoted (to pure faith), turning away from all that is false. (And follow) the Faith of Allâh (-Islam) to suit the requirements of which He has made the nature of mankind. There can be no change in the nature (of creation) which Allâh has made. That is the right and most perfect Faith, yet most people do not know (it).

So keep up your face/front to the religion, (as) a submitter/Moslem/Unifier of God , God`s nature/manner/religion which He created/originated the people on it, (there is) no289replacement/substitution to God`s creation, that (is) the religion the straight/valuable , and but most of the people do not know.

Therefore set your attention for obeying Allah, devoted solely to Him; the foundation set by Allah, upon which He created man; do not change what Allah has created; this is the proper religion - but most people do not know.

Nay! Those who are unjust follow their low desires without any knowledge; so who can guide him whom Allah causes to err? And they shall have no helpers.

So set you (O Muhammad SAW) your face towards the religion of pure Islamic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allah Alone) Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illah (i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol 21, Page 41]

He sets forth to you a parable related to yourselves. Have you among those whom your right hands possess partners in that which We have provided you with, so that with respect to it you are alike -- you fear them as you fear each other? Thus do We make the messages clear for a people who understand.

Then set your face upright for religion in the right state-- the nature made by Allah in which He has made men; there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion, but most people do not know--

So set thy purpose (O Muhammad) for religion as a man by nature upright - the nature (framed) of Allah, in which He hath created man. There is no altering (the laws of) Allah's creation. That is the right religion, but most men know not -

(Muhammad), be devoted to the upright religion. It is harmonious with the nature which God has designed for people. The design of God cannot be altered. Thus is the upright religion, but many people do not know.

Therefore set your face to the religion purely, the upright creation upon which He originated people. There is no changing of the creation of Allah. This is the valuable religion, although most people do not know?

So, set you your face towards the religion as a Hanif. Allah's Fitrah with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Allah's Khalq, that is the straight religion, but most men know not.

Devote yourself single-mindedly to the Religion. And follow the nature [constitution] as made by God, that nature in which He has created mankind. There is no altering the creation of God. That is the right religion. But most people do not realize it.

So devote yourself to the religion of monotheism—the natural instinct God has instilled in mankind. There is no altering God’s creation. This is the true religion, but most people do not know.

So set your purpose, O Muhammad (s), for religion, as a hanf, as one inclining to it -- in other words, devote your religion, you and whoever follows you, purely to God -- a nature given by God, upon which He originated mankind, and this [nature] is His religion; in other words, adhere to it. There is no changing God's creation, His religion, that is to say, do not change it by becoming idolaters. That is the upright religion, the belief in God's Oneness, but most people, namely, the Meccan disbelievers, do not know, [anything of] God's Oneness --

The Command to adhere to Tawhid

Allah says;

فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا فِطْرَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا

So, set you your face towards the religion as a Hanif. Allah's Fitrah with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Allah's Khalq, that is the straight religion, but most men know not.

Allah says;

`so set your face and persevere in the religion which Allah has prescribed for you, the worship of Allah Alone, the religion of Ibrahim, to which Allah has guided you and which He has perfected for you with the utmost perfection. In this manner, you will also adhere to the sound Fitrah with which He created His creation.'

Allah created His creation to recognize Him and know His Tawhid, and that there is no God except Him, as we have already seen when discussing the Ayah,

وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتَ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُواْ بَلَى

and made them testify as to themselves (saying);"Am I not your Lord?"

They said;"Yes!..." (7;172)

And according to a Hadith, Allah said,

إِنِّي خَلَقْتُ عِبَادِي حُنَفَاءَ فَاجْتَالَتْهُمُ الشَّيَاطِينُ عَنْ دِينِهِم

"I created my servants Hunafa (i.e., monotheists), then the Shayatin misled them from their religion."

We will see in the Hadiths that Allah created His creation with the Fitrah of Islam, then among some of them there emerged corrupt religions such as Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism.

لَاا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ

No change let there be in Allah's Khalq,

Some of them said that this means, `do not change the creation of Allah, for if you do, you will divert the people away from the Fitrah with which He created them.'

So it is instructive; just as His saying;

وَمَن دَخَلَهُ كَانَ ءَامِناً

And whoever enters it, he is safe

This is a good and correct interpretation. Others said that this means, Allah made all of His creation equal, all of them have the same sound Fitrah and are by nature upright; they are all born with this nature and there is no disparity among people in this regard.

Ibn Abbas, Ibrahim An-Nakha`i, Sa`id bin Jubayr, Mujahid, Ikrimah, Qatadah, Ad-Dahhak and Ibn Zayd said that the Ayah;
لَاا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّه
(No change let there be in Allah's Khalq),

means, the religion of Allah.

Al-Bukhari said;
لَاا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّه
(No change let there be in Allah's Khalq),

"It means, the religion of Allah, and the religion, and the Fitrah is Islam."

Then he reported that Abu Hurayrah said,

"The Messenger of Allah said;

مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ إِلاَّ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ أَوْ يُمَجِّسَانِهِ كَمَا تُنْتَجُ الْبَهِيمَةُ بَهِيمَةً جَمْعَاءَ هَلْ تُحِسُّونَ فِيهَا مِنْ جَدْعَاءَ


No child is born except in a state of Fitrah, then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian or a Zoroastrian, just as each animal produces a perfect animal like itself -- do you see any among them that are born mutilated?

then the narrator (Abu Hurayrah) said (recite this Ayah),

..
فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ

Allah's Fitrah with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Allah's Khalq, that is the straight religion."

This was also recorded by Muslim.

ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ

that is the straight religion,

means, adherence to the Shariah and the sound Fitrah is the true, straight religion.

وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ



but most men know not.

means, most people do not know this and they deviate far astray from it, as Allah says;

وَمَأ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُوْمِنِينَ

And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. (12;103)

وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى الاٌّرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ

And if you obey most of those on the earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's path. (6;116)
